It’s the holy grail of gun control, as demanded by Michael Bloomberg and his minions as well as Dianne Feinstein and her associates in Congress: a total ban on firearms, other than those used by the government. And what government is embracing this “progressive” stance on ‘dangerous weapons, you might ask? The Al-Qaeda associated group known as ISIS has just made that declaration for all land under its control in Iraq . . .

No public gathering other than those organised by ISIS will be allowed at any stage. No guns will be allowed outside of its ranks.
It has been said many times that power grows out of the barrel of a gun, and it looks like ISIS is embracing that idea.

I strongly suspect US troops had similar rules for Germany and Japan during their occupation.
They very well have a more difficult time enforcing it than the ‘0bama Civilian National Security Force, “as well equipped and as well funded as the military.”’ will when they come to collect ours.

ISIS and Democrats have very similar philosophies—not that it’s news to anybody here.
It is now the law the can shoot anyone with a gun that is not them. How very 1939.
Actually, that is historically not really accurate.
Most Muslim cultures since the 19th century have used slave armies, with the Mamelukes and Jannisaries just the most famous. They tended to eventually take over the government, for obvious reasons.
There are many other examples down thru history of slaves being routinely armed, often by a noble or monarch to use against his “free” subjects.
Under Communist governments, in practice all are slaves of the State. Some of those slaves are issued arms to use against the rest of the slaves when necessary.
The direct association of freedom with bearing arms is more or less a western civ idea.
I’m not disputing the truth of your statement, merely pointing out that it is not universally true.
Right, but the history lesson is sort of unnecessary...
Everyone here gets the idea that ‘Free men are armed and _________ fill in the blank (slaves, serfs, oppressed people, etc.), are NOT’.
