New York state Senator Gustavo Rivera (D-Bronx) introduced a bill on June 16 to create a special status allowing aliens who are not in the United States legally under federal law to enjoy certain privileges by virtue of being “New York State Citizens.”
The right to vote is among many rights and privileges usually reserved for citizens (or at least legal residents) that S. 7879, “The New York Is Home Act,” extends to state residents who are in the United States illegally.
Rep. Karim Camara introduced a companion bill, A10129, in the state assembly. The act states that it “extends voting rights to all State Citizens. State Citizens may vote in all State and local elections.”

Why not just allow everyone in Mexico or Guatemala to vote in New York by absentee ballot?

Turning the tables a bit, this might be considered an excellent suggestion to a 'Rat: First, allow absentee ballots from all the countries from Mexico TO Guatemala and beyond. Then, the rationale to be used is: "Hey, they are already voting... let's get the remainder to come here illegally"
You could put it this way as well... Americans are dealing with the psychological traumas from out of control illegal immigration...

Illegals will flock to NY and cannibalize the state which in itself isn’t such a bad thing for the rest of us.
The real problem is the one that no one talks about. Illegals get representation in congress even if they don’t vote and NY will end up with many more democrat congressmen and electoral votes.

Why not just send the ballot boxes to Mexico and save the travel hassles?
