WASHINGTON – The U.S. Patent Office ruled Wednesday that the Washington Redskins nickname is "disparaging of Native Americans" and that the team's federal trademarks for the name must be canceled.

The 2-1 ruling comes after a campaign to change the name has gained momentum over the past year. The team doesn't immediately lose trademark protection and is allowed to retain it during an appeal.

Change the name to “Washington Thinskins” - the team that’s easily offended.

The owners should fight back by not playing any home games until 0’s patent office reverses it’s decision.

Most of the Injuns figured out that the name is a compliment: it refers to their fighting spirit.

Only idiots and Leftists (but I repeat myself) don’t get that.

Another attack on the American people by their own government.

Is there nothing more important going on in the world right now?

So Niggas With Attitude (NWA) loses their trademark too?

How about MDC (Millions of Dead Cops)?

A chill wind blows and the activist courts suck.

This has been around a long time. The Communists who run the bureaucracy are in control. Now it all depends on what side of the bed Kennedy got up on when this goes to the Supreme Court.

Leftists always want to ban things they don’t approve of.

Thus their attacks on religious notions of sin, the tea party, education,...

They keep trying this crap against the Seminoles in FL but the actual tribe keeps coming out in favor of the continued use of the name. Of course it is a compliment! Those guys are/where badarse warriors. Only friggin morons think it is not a compliment.

I’m afraid it’s 1934. Too many bad things are converging at once.

This is crazy. The government are actually going to FORCE them to change this name.

Not exactly.
A faceless, unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy has presumed to exercise powers that their reason for existence DOES NOT define.

Time to eliminate or replace the Patent office. Or Clean house and start over.

Since when does a bureaucracy, no matter how useful its defined purpose, presume to engage in Social Engineering?

ELIMINATE THE FREAKIN" LOT OF THEM!

(Is it just me? or are we suddenly realizing that there are dozens of these entities, abusing hundreds of millions of us, and have remained invisible for decades?)

I was aware enough to foresee this and ordered 3 of each tee shirt as soon as I saw them. This is the best publicity the web site can get.
I bet they are being cranked out on overtime!

Aside from the NSA version, the Department of Homeland Stupidity is also a great one.

I am waiting anxiously for the "National Park Service" shirt, Obey our leader and we Might Let You Use HIS Parks!

And I can think of a few others...

What a great photo!
A small group of Native Americans I can appreciate, respect and relate to.
Not a single delusional alcoholic, (or lawyer, but I repeat myself) in the bunch!

The Washington Redskins will continue to have common law trademark protection. Trademark office registration automatically gives nationwide protection. Common law protection is afforded only in the geographic area the owner is the first user. But since the Redskins have are so well known the common law protection should have full 50 state protection.

No one is as ignorant as those who choose to be, deliberately.
There are way too many of them.

The Wars for the Pacific Northwest Peter Cozzens, Stackpole Books, 2002, also might actually be educational. And you need not be able to read cursive, either!
