Aberdeen is near the northern end of Chesapeake Bay, and Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Newport News, and related bases/facilities are probably within range. It looks to be about 200 miles, and a previous poster mentioned a range of more than 300 miles.
Reminds me of the old barrage balloons the Brits used in WWII in association with the Chain Home radar system.
Are they armed?
Almost certain not.
This is a C3I asset. This gives you the information on where to send that drone, where to send that F15, where to send that squad/platoon/company, etc.

Because my response was to null and voids conspiracy ping list I kind of thought it was self-evident.
