Yesterday Equality Virginia was honored to receive a proclamation from Governor Terry McAuliffe that recognizes June 2014 as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride month. The proclamation noted that the Commonwealth celebrates its diverse LGBT community, is dedicated to fostering acceptance and preventing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and that LGBT Virginians contribute to a stronger Commonwealth. We couldn't agree more; and will continue to work towards that ideal.
The support we have received from the Governor has been invaluable. He understands that fairness and inclusion are important to Virginia's families and to the commonwealth as a whole. But to get laws like workplace nondiscrimination and second-parent adoption passed, we need to change some minds - and votes - in the less understanding House of Delegates. With the 2015 General Assembly session six months away, we are gearing up for targeted outreach and in-district visits this summer and fall.
That means a lot of driving. $25 will pay for the gas it takes to visit some of our on-the-fence Delegates who can make a lot of difference with their vote next session. Can you pitch in?
Speaking of Pride month - don't forget to save the date for Prides! You can see the Virginia Pride calendar here. We are excited to see many of you out there this summer!
Yours for equality,

June is dairy month.
It should be "Gay Seven Deadly Sins Month"
I will never give the guy any credit. Scum such as this Governor should be politically annihilated. F him.
When is Heterosexual pride month? Someone needs to sue this ball washer for discrimination.
“I still cant believe he was elected. Such a corrupt official fits the state”
We shouldn’t have nominated an unhinged crony-ist. The office was ours for the taking, if a sleazy insider like McAuliffe could actually win it.
