Hillary Clinton’s Book Is The No. 2 Hardcover In First Week (It's officially a bomb...)
Buzzfeed ^ | 6/18/14 | Ruby Cramer

Hard Choices sells 85,721 hard copies, according to Nielsen figures.

Hillary Clinton’s new memoir was the second-most purchased hardcover book in its first week, according to Nielsen Bookscan data that records physical book sales at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Wal-Mart, and other retailers.

The BookScan figures, released Wednesday to publishers and obtained by BuzzFeed, account for sales during the week ending on Sunday, June 15 — a period covering the first six days Clinton’s book, Hard Choices, was available for purchase. They reflect strong but not spectacular sales for a book that has dominated the political conversation.

The Bookscan service tracks approximately 85% of retail sales for physical books at the biggest booksellers, but does not account for e-books, made for tablets like Kindle. In addition to tracking Amazon and Barnes & Noble sales, BookScan tracks hundreds of independent bookstores and big-box retailers like Costco.

The figures show Clinton sold 85,721 hardcover copies in its first week.

Lots of spinning, but soon it's going to be layoffs time for 15% of Simon and Schuster employees thanks to Hillary's advance.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the Clintons bought thousands of her book. They can certainly afford to.

“Hard Choices”? That sounds more like a book written by Bill...

So a $14,000,000 advance divided by 100,000 sales (I’m being generous and allowing an extra 14K for all those — snicker — Hillary! ebook fans) means they’ve paid her $140 per sale. B&N is selling it for $21 online.

Who runs Simon & Schuster, former Obama economic advisers?

Shouldn't any book by the Clintons be titled When Good Things Happen to Bad People?

Simon and Schuster will do OK. The Hillary camp will simply pull an L Ron Hubbard ploy and enlist supporters, such as labor organizations to buy up all the copies to make it look like it is a best seller.

S&S paid her $140/sale and they’re probably taking in $9/sale. LAYOFFS!

What difference does it make? Libs would vote for her if every page in the damn book was blank.

With the wholesale price of the book at, $10 which is generous, that is only $850,000 return. The book will be lucky to sell a total of 200,000. That would be a massive loss. The entire $14 million advance Plus several other millions for expenses.

No one LIKES her. No Body trusts her. She is all but intolerable. Yet, she is ‘inevitable’!

Another sad thing about this: the 2nd most popular book in America only sold 82,000 copies, i.e. people don’t read much anymore.

That’s actually not accurate. Ben Carson is No. 2 on the Times’ non-fiction list to Clinton. Carson was No. 1 last week but got bumped to No. 2 this week. The new list just released today.
