President Obama Can 'Bypass Congress' Over Iraq Action

US President Barack Obama had told Congressional leaders he does not need lawmakers' approval for any action in Iraq, the top Senate Republican says.

Senator Mitch Mc McConnell was speaking after a meeting between the president and senior members of Congress.

Iraq has asked for US air strikes against advancing Sunni militants.

Meanwhile US Vice-President Biden and Iraqi PM Nouri Maliki discussed possible "additional measures" by the US to assist Iraqi forces.

The two men considered ways "to roll back the terrorists' advances", a White House statement said.

President Obama Bush Can 'Bypass Congress' Over Iraq Action

Now imagine the 24x7 non-stop furor the MSM would be locked into if the headline read that way, say 10 years ago.

Where is Code Pink? Crickets.

Where is ABC, CBS, NBC etc.? Crickets.

Where are all the screaming lefties & Cindy Sheehan? Crickets.

Where are the GOP’s “stones”? I don’t think they have any.

I have been wondering whether Obama was a Sunni or a Shia.

Now I know.

Why does he need to “by-pass Congress”? He has authorization under previous Congressional acts passed and signed into law...he must be planning something beyond just repelling the terrorists’ advance or he just likes using the phrase for narcissistic reasons.

At some point — they are no longer “lawful orders.”

There are not even in the game. You have to stop their advances before you can possibly roll them back. Baghdad is being encircled.

Actually, Congress gave authority to the Executive Branch to wage war for 60 days and withdraw within 30 days without a declaration of war via the War Powers Resolution of 1973. Their mistake as always. However, that resolution also requires the president to give 48 hour prior notice, which Obambi didn't do when bombing Libya.

Not to mention Obambi actually signed recent legislation that he had to notify Congress in advance of releasing prisoners from Gitmo, which he didn't do with the obscene exchange between Bergdahl and 5 Taliban generals.

Obama has broken so many laws, including in his health care fiasco, that I'm starting to lose count. Anybody got a list of his lies?
