In an ad posted on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's YouTube page on Wednesday, former NFL quarterback Brett Favre, a product of the coastal town of Kiln, MS that played college ball at the University of Southern Mississippi, came out to support incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS).
Ive learned through football that strong leadership makes the difference between winning and losing. And when it comes to our states future, trust me: Mississippi can win and win big with Thad Cochran, Favre said. Thad Cochran always delivers, just like he did during Katrina."
Cochran is locked into a runoff battle with Tea Party hopeful State Sen. Chris McDaniel that is set for a vote on June 24. The two first faced off in the Mississippi Republican Primary on June 3, with McDaniel having a slight edge in the results. However, without a candidate earning more than 50 percent, the contest is headed to a runoff.

Brett Favre steps into politics
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Who?
Even the tough guys are turning pansy.
Yesterday Terry Bradshaw was mewling about how the “R******s” need to change their offensive name.
Thad Cochran always deliversPork and Graft, just like he did during Katrina and Sandy, and the Banker Bailout, and the GM Bailout, and Obama Care, and (insert liberal spending cause here) ."
Brett Favre steps into politics
Another way of saying that he “steps into it”...
They’re the same age.
Concussion/brain damage BUMP!
Just another Boehn-head cry baby.
How nice of Brett to pay Haley Barbour back for his pardon of Brett’s sexual deviance legal problem. (Barbour is a Cochran supporter, what a coincidence).
Favre favors Pub-E old fart who did indecent things with farm fauna.
“How nice of Brett to pay Haley Barbour back for his pardon of Bretts sexual deviance legal problem.”
Elaborate please. I haven’t heard this particular one.
Neither know when it’s time to retire..
“Ive learned through football that strong leadership makes the difference between winning and losing...”, obviously not.
The Cochran camp responded:
“We are not currently looking for quarterback to shore-up our faltering offense. Although Mr. Favre is an accomplished player who is still available to run a preofessiona-level offense, we feel that his open pandering for a large contract within our organization should not be entertained at this time.”
Well, I was trying to remain neutral...;^)
In Bret's defense, I have to say that his family was severely affected by Katrina -- held hostage by the weather and destruction for weeks. I think his SIL was expecting a baby at the time, and Bret sent a lot of help to them. Mountains of food and generators, etc. If Thad Cochran helped the Favre family, I can see where Bret would offer his thanks in return.
The poll, conducted by WPA Opinion Research, has McDaniel at 49 percent and Cochran at 41 percent. The poll of 500 likely GOP primary runoff voters has a margin of error of 4.4 percent and was conducted June 9-10.
Has America not grown tired of sleazy politicians and their famous lackeys yet? Have we not learned these folks cannot and do not speak to our benefit?
