Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Grants Itself Authority to Shut Down Any Busine

Last week the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, through the power of Dodd-Frank, passed a rule giving the agency unprecedented power to shut down businesses, no matter what the reason, at any time it wishes through a cease-and-desist order. Further, the rule puts businesses at the mercy of the CFPB and they cannot go back into operation until government approval or a court ruling is made over an issue. Subsequently because bureaucratic decisions and court rulings take a substantial amount of time to happen, businesses cannot survive during those waiting periods. Here are the details (bolding is mine):

CFPB passed a "rule"? Probably they issued a rule. Either way, granting themselves the authority to do as the please just kind goes along with the way this admin is setting things up. I'm still not sure how rules and regulations can carry the weight of law. (well, I do, but you know what I mean)

I am a board member of the Government Abuse Prevention Division, and I just issued a rule that shuts down the CFPB in it’s entirety. They must all go home, effective immediately.

It's all religion, r-man.

If a LEO believes he's doing the right thing, and the higher power backs him up .. he can do anything.

Like the raid on Gibson

THAT'S exactly the attitude Americans must have.

I have decided you're non-entity .... vanish and begone with you !

The only (?) problem is; when the phone shuts down and the electricity is cut off and your bank acct is frozen ... and it's only you ... you can compromise pretty quick ... especially if there's others in your care ... wife, family, etc.

But that IS what we should do.

“When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing; when you see that money is flowing to those who deal not in goods, but in favors; when you see that men get rich more easily by graft than by work, and your laws no longer protect you against them, but protect them against you, you may know that your society is doomed.”

This is the Lefty “Indian” Elizabeth Warren’s bright idea, hatched in the corridors of Harvard, doncha know. Just another Communist plot, bringing down capitalism in the mold of Obama and the university morons populating his administration.

Just say “No”.

Then prepare to be boarded by the CFPB SWAT team.

I’m sure they have one...

That was my next thought. How large is the cfpb’s “enforcement” branch/division? Guess maybe they can borrow some from the epa “enforcement” brigade.

Does any one else get the feeling that we are back on the playground at school during recess and the bullies( gov’t)
are pushing kids around, demanding lunch money and what ever else they feel like. Pushing kids into groups with an alliance of force amongst the toughs. All the while they say, “ what you goin’ do about it”.

What ever happened to the concept of separation of powers?

Here is an article II regulatory body performing an article 1 legislative function by in effect creating a law which grants that body the article II prosecutorial function and, at least temporarily, an article III power to adjudicate.

A better recipe for tyranny could not be conceived of unless one appointed Lois Lerner to head up the agency.

I can repeat the lesson.

Exactly!! There was no reasoning with those thugs back then and there is no reasoning with them NOW!
Force is the only way the kids( us ) can take back our playground.
That does not mean we have to live with a new set of thugs!
When you beat that punk, did you take his place as the school bully? Of course not.....cause if you did you wouldn't be here talking about the present Gov’t abuses to you and others.
No....we are not them! but we need to kick their ass and teach them a lesson that they will never forget!

Thanks for nothing. You just ruined the day. Over the years I’ve re-read ATLAS several times, and each time grew more and more concerned for the future of the country.
Tonight I will start once again. Please tell me, will this reading of Atlas Shrugged be the new reading of a novel or will it be an accurate mixture of HISTORY and PREDICTION?
When our children read this book it will have become HISTORY and thus, the end of a good day.
