This happened to me a few years back in Whistler.
I was taking a picture of the village square, and some woman comes running across like 300 feet, full speed, stops 6 inches from my face and starts screaming at me to stop taking a pictures of her kid (apparently he was in the corner of the picture, I didn’t even notice till later).
So I start arguing with her about it being a public place, everyone in public is fair game for pictures, etc.
She threatens to go to the cops, I said “go ahead”.
Never heard anything after that.
Years ago, I had to stop doing it because I could tell it was creeping people out. Times have changed.
Same happened to me. I was sitting in my pick-up truck at the local library waiting to pick up my daughter who was getting tutored in math at the time. I had just purchased a new Canon 60-D and was just sitting in my truck. . trying different settings and taking a few photos.
The next thing I know, I look up and there is an officer standing at my window wanting to know what I was up to. So, I explain the situation and assured him I wasn't a pervert. He said the lady over there said I was taking pictures of her child. . .I said, "huh?!". . I look at the lady and I have to say, she had all the markings of a total devoted Lib with her cropped hair, round glasses and her SUV with the OBAMA stickers still proudly displayed.
She just saw a guy in a RED pick-up with a camera and she just starting salivating because she was sure that this guy had to be a conservative, Tea Party PERVERT!!! I just smiled. . . but she was angry. .VERY angry.
Last year my then 16 year old son was at the nearby park. He had my GoPro on his bike, but it had run out of batteries. My younger children come home, my little girl crying, that a police man was questioning my oldest in the park. Turns out a lady had called because he was in the park "taking pictures" and was playing with younger children. HIS brother and sister! The cop HAD to come out and investigate, but he knew/realized my son was doing nothing wrong.
