IRS Chief: Special Prosecutor Would Be "Monumental" Waste of Money

With six investigations already digging into the IRS's inappropriate targeting of political groups, appointing an independent special prosecutor to investigate the matter would be "a monumental waste of taxpayer funds," IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said in a heated exchange with a House Republican leader Friday morning.

Koskinen testified before the House Ways and Means Committee in the wake of the revelation that the IRS cannot produce emails from Lois Lerner -- the former IRS official at the heart of the controversy -- from 2009 through April 2011 because of a computer crash that Lerner suffered in 2011.

"What you have lost is all credibility," Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., told Koskinen. He added, "I don't believe the IRS went through every possible exercise to recover these documents."

Republicans keep pressing IRS over lost emails from Lerner, six others GOP leader subpoenas IRS chief over missing emails He said appointing a special prosecutor to the case would be the only way to resolve the controversy and restore credibility to the agency. Camp also asked for the serial numbers of all relevant hard drives that crashed and the actual hard drives themselves, if possible.

As opposed to witch hunting audits which financially destroy honest people and yield precious little income for the IRS?

Basically the IRS is OK at holding an inquisition on a taxpayer or conservative organization, but hey don’t want to be the one being on the spot for someone investigating them.

Most people only read the headline, so CBS News accomplished Obama’s mission for him.

You can’t call CBS News prostitutes, because they don’t get paid for their services. What’s the word I’m looking for?... Hmmmm... Whore. That’s the word.

The IRS wastes billions every year on bogus Earned Income Credit claims.
13 billion last year?
I’ll bet we can get to the bottom of the severe systemic political problems plaguing the IRS for a lot less than 13 billion dollars.

The federal government is “a monumental waste of money,” but that does’t make it go away. Neither should the demand for a special prosecutor.

He is a pompous @ss. This investigation calls for a special prosecutor like none other that I’ve seen.

What agency has more power to install fear among Americans? They have been caught lying multiple times and have destroyed evidence and have targeted Americans

What more do you need?

`Liar Liar, Part Deux’

A federal senior service bureaucrat must tell the truth for 24 hours ....

John Koskinen: Your honor, I object to a special prosecutor!

Judge: Why?

Koskinen: Because it would be devastating to my agency!

Judge: Overruled.

Koskinen: Good call!

********************************

says a person DESPERATE to NOT have a special prosecutor looking into the lying IRS and following the trail of ‘breadcrumbs’ straight to the WH. Somebody will crack and start singing if a special prosecutor goes to work ... until then, arrogance from the IRS and ‘crickets’ from everybody else.
