Hundreds of infants and toddlers ages 2 years or younger have allegedly been apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol while crossing the border illegally without a parent or guardian in the past year.
From October 1, 2013 to June 11, Border Patrol detained 378 unaccompanied children ages two or younger, according to data obtained by Fusion from the office of a high-ranking Democratic senator. Of those children, 95 were infants under 1 year old.
Fusion tried multiple times by phone and in writing to confirm the reports with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Homeland Security, but no official would comment specifically, and instead referred to a previous statement. The Department of Health and Human Services, charged with the care of unaccompanied minors caught at the border, did not respond to a request for comment.
Omar Zamora, a spokesperson for the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley sector, limited his comment to: “We are receiving children of all ages.”
Official data from last year shows that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement logged 27 deportations of children under the age of two, suggesting the federal government has processed infants in the past.
Emily Butera, a senior program officer at the Women's Refugee Commission, said she has seen unaccompanied babies in the shelter system in past years, but that the problem is getting worse. She said the youngest kids are sometimes sent across the border with older siblings, or with paid smugglers.
Butera said the average age of an unaccompanied child migrant is now 14 years old, younger than in previous years. “And we’re seeing more babies and toddlers than we had in the past,” she said.

Diabolical setup. While the Border Patrol, under orders to run, hide and avoid anyone with guns or other weapons, is now baby sitting and on diaper duty.
In the meanwhile, Mexican Army personnel, armed, have made many incursions into the US. Enter the Texas Guard, armed and under no such orders as the Border Patrol. Mexicans and gangs often shoot first. Imagine a gang, Mexican, and Texas Guard dust up on our side of the BOrder. Obama will not likely side with Texas.
A chaotic situation can result that the administration will not let go to waste. A test of the Administration is coming up.,..probably soon. All know where Texas stands now and where Mexico stands by its record at the border and...beyond.
Evil “parents” and also tragic for those little kids. What do they know? Only that no one wants them. Their parents should be prosecuted for child abuse. In Mexico.
My two year old keeps asking me to drive her up to the Canadian border. I think this toddler northerly phenomenon needs to be brought up on the Coast to Coast overnight show.
Screw up? Hardly. Obama is forcing amnesty via executive fiat. He is singlehandedly making amnesty happen at breakneck speed that two political parties and a league of special interests have been attempting to do through legislation for decades. The only screwing going on is happening to American citizens and the security of our nation.
Put them up for adoption. Raise them as good Americans who would not for anything send their own toddlers to a foreign country unaccompanied.
Where are the parents, and how do unaccompanied infants and toddlers make it to the border? Could Mexico be emptying its orphanages as Castro emptied Cuba’s jails during the 1980 Mariel boatlift?

Unaccompanied means they could be with someone who isn’t a parent. that could be a sibling, aunt or uncle or cousin. It is meant to pull at our heartstrings, which is does. But this is an erroneous term.
Otherwise, you can see in the photos they are with their mothers, who were told that we are too kind-hearted ( or stupid) to return women with children.\
\Maybe those children, don’t even belong to those women who claim they do.

Obama’s open borders policy is main responsible for the illegal human trafficking debacle, his policy is rewarding those corrupt governments with additional hundreds of millions of dollars in economic help encouraging even further the invasion of our country. Instead, Obama should immediately stop any help to those countries who are promoting the tsunami of illegal migrants that contribute to the bankruptcy of our educational and medical infrastructure. Many of these illegals are vectors of diseases that have, for a long time, been eradicated in this country; including leprosy, tuberculosis, and many other contagious pathogens.
It is beyond cynicism the demands of the open borders fanatics, and of the governments of Mexico and Central American who are involved in human trafficking and the illegal exportation to U.S. of minors under inhuman conditions, and now they have the gall to insult and menace the American people by demanding that the U.S. bestow the rights and privileges of its citizens to the illegal migrants (rights their migrants do not enjoy in their own country). All the while, those governments promote a massive invasion of the U.S. in gross violation of our sovereignty and international laws.
The demands of the Salvadoran Ambassador that US Must Respect ‘Universal Rights’ of Illegal Minors are beyond the pale. The Ambassador happens to represent the terrorists of the FMNL – a group currently in power – and the Salvadorian Maras Salvatruchas – the most brutal gang of murderers who continue to extend their reign of terror all over the U.S.
The U.S. government should demand that the countries where the illegal migrants came from pay for the care of their illegal migrants and for the expedited repatriation to their country of origin.
