Griffith Response to Reports that VI Being Considered for Housing Illegal Aliens [VA-9]
Office of Congressman Morgan Griffith ^ | June 20, 2014 | Congressman Morgan Griffith

Posted on 06/20/2014 4:21:03 PM PDT by Timber Rattler

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today issued the following statement after sending a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia Burwell regarding reports that Virginia Intermont College in Bristol is under consideration by HHS as a possible detention center to house immigrant children who have illegally entered the United States:

“While I am personally opposed, American citizens impacted by such a decision ought to know beforehand, and they should have a meaningful opportunity to have their voices heard.”

The full text of the letter follows below:

June 20, 2014

The Honorable Sylvia Burwell
U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services
200 Independence Avenue, SW
Washington, D.C. 20201

Dear Secretary Burwell:

I am contacting you regarding reports of the possibility of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) housing minor illegal immigrants at the Virginia Intermont College property in Bristol, Virginia, which is in Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District, which I represent.

I first learned of this issue in a Bristol Herald Courier newspaper article from June 19, 2014, entitled “Virginia Intermont may be possible site to house immigrant children.” I do not understand why HHS may be considering bringing these illegal immigrant minors to the Virginia Intermont College property when I believe our efforts should be spent on returning them back to their home countries. Nonetheless, housing a number of illegal immigrant children would obviously have a significant impact on the Virginia Intermont College property and the surrounding community.

While I am personally opposed, American citizens impacted by such a decision ought to know beforehand, and they should have a meaningful opportunity to have their voices heard. Before HHS comes to any decision on this issue, I request that meaningful consultation be done with local officials and general public of Bristol, Virginia, Washington County, Virginia, and Bristol, Tennessee, which would all stand to be impacted in various ways. Furthermore, I request that you seek the involvement of state and local elected officials of these areas. Housing these illegal immigrant children may impact public safety and public health in addition to an increased demand on public services. Local citizens deserve to know how HHS plans to address these critical issues before any decisions are made.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If there are any questions regarding my request, or if I may provide you with any additional information or materials, please contact me or Will Hupman in my Washington, DC office at (202) 225-3861. I look forward to your reply. I remain

Sincerely yours,

H. MORGAN GRIFFITH
Member of Congress

Although DHHS has scrapped its plan to house illegal alien children at St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia, in view of last night's massive local turnout against it, now words comes that the Obama Regime is now trying to sneak them into recently closed Virginia Intermont College in Virginia.

Shuttered Virginia Intermont could possibly house immigrant children

This was Griffith's response.

The border states should take all their illegal immigrants, especially the criminals and those with communicable diseases, and drop them off in front of the White House, in front of the homes of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and all the other slimy politicians who created this problem for their political advantage.

Why do I have the feeling that, after decades of decay, this crisis really represents the final collapse of the republic?

This country is certainly being invaded with the help of the government. And why not? There’s no opposition party. A true opposition party would be calling the people to arms!

This particular situation is beginning to feel to me like the 'end game' of the Marxist left led by the purple lipped prince. I think this is it.

It will not be stopped for months, and by the time it is so many will have immigrated that the nation will not resemble what it did even a short time ago.

Its the direction we were headed anyway, but the process has been turbocharged - now what would've taken another ten years is where we'll be this time next year. And there is no doubt now that they will be made citizens and be voting by 2016.

All Perry and Brewer have to do is put the national guard on the border. Even boner asked Obama to do it. Perry would have boner’s support.

My wife says this is Agenda 21. She says these kids are the Future Farmers of America.

What will this do to food prices? The food chains will be forced to sell to the government creating a food shortage. Demand goes up while supplies go down. Prices go up.

I hadn’t thought of that. But one way or the other, this - not the ACA, not the climate change push, not the exploding budget - is the fundamental transformation we were promised.

I called Phil Roe’s office on this today. The staffer I spoke to professed to know nothing about it.

Think about all the diseases these people are bringing with them. How long before people become paranoid and start taking matters into their own hands. And by the way, this day and age it’s wise to be paranoid and believe that everything is not only possible, but probable.

Go to drudge. The links have info that will make you sick. A whistle blower says many of them have TB. Gang members are being shipped to other parts of the country and turned loose. Where the hell are the republicans and all the sheriffs?
