The Obama administration will work to ensure that gay and lesbian Americans are eligible to take leave from their jobs to care for a same-sex spouse, regardless of whether they live in a state that recognizes gay marriage, the White House said Friday.
President Obama is directing the Labor Department to start drafting rules making clear that the Family and Medical Leave Act applies to same-sex couples, allowing gay and lesbian employees to take unpaid leave to care for a sick spouse regardless of where they live. The move comes three years after the Obama administration stopped defending the Defense of Marriage Act, which lets states refuse to recognize gay marriages performed in other states....

Hey if I was a dude having Michelle as wife
I be hitting Columbia snow with Reggie Love all the time get away from her LOL!
Well, that’d be like .... forever.....
I’m getting sick of this piecemeal legislation just to appease the left. Why don’t they just declare a Civil Union designation that addresses all the points of concern for gay couples, and be done with it? I’m mature enough to accept that they exist and have rights, I just don’t want them to screw up the gender-defined legal roles of husband/father/wife/mother. That’s why they need a separate legal designation, instead of redefining civil marriage to one-size-fits-all.
My other problem is that most of their complaints apply to single people, not gay people. I’m a divorced bachelor and loving it (my responsibility is to look after my parents) but man-oh-manicotti are there ever limitations on the rights of single people. For example, under the family medical leave act, literally nobody has the legal right to miss work and look after me if I get sick, not even blood relatives. How is that fair?
The same goes for inheritance, taxation, adoption, hospital visitation, and the exhorbitant school taxes I pay as a property owner for a service I don’t even consume. None of that is fair to single people.
If gay people want a level playing field, they should start with making it fair to be a bachelor, whether you’re male, female, or somewhere in between. That would iron out most of their legal & taxation issues. Then we can talk about their other pet peeves such as who is Spouse A and Spouse B.
Obama has a plan to address your concerns about piecemeal social change.
He will soon be issuing an Executive Order making homosexualism mandatory for everyone.....
Production will be down on Mondays due to sore butt syndrome.
You need to go back and read the header for this board. In before the ZOT~!
One other thought: it has always occurred to me that in order to be eligible for these special rights, gay people would be forced to “come out” to the government and employer.
So I’ve always suspected that it is the uber-leftist militant Pink Mafia who are dangling these carrots to force the “outing” of all homosexuals, many or most of whom would no doubt prefer to live their lives in private. But here’s the conundrum: if you don’t come out, you don’t get the rights.
How many closeted gays would be willing to trade their privacy for civil rights?
Read it yourself, the issue is the right to take UNPAID leave to care for a family member without losing your job:
“President Obama is directing the Labor Department to start drafting rules making clear that the Family and Medical Leave Act applies to same-sex couples, allowing gay and lesbian employees to take unpaid leave to care for a sick spouse regardless of where they live.”
As a straight bachelor, I can’t do this and nobody can do it for me. Where are my rights? Expanding the definition to include gay couples doesn’t help my situation at all, it just further marginalizes me.
mr. mulato is always up for a waving sword!
I pose this question to the group.
What are you willing to give up to make the madness stop? Because there is only one way to stop this. Win the senate in 2014. And the only way to do that is get out and vote.
We have the best person to save this country in Ted Cruz. We have great senators and congressmen to support Cruz. And all we have to do to change the country back is get the majority in both house and senate.
Frankly, we don’t have another 3 years to hope that some Conservative will emerge from the pack, get the nomination and beat whichever rat the media decides will be the next President. We need to do whatever it takes to get the majority, then turn loose the conservatives and end the madness.
We need to out Alinsky Alinsky.
Hey, can I take leave to take care of my unmarried hetero companion?
Excellent points. This is not meant to be flippant toward you at all , but they really don’t care about you. Not that government should be in the fair business anyway, but their agenda is not about fairness as I’m sure you already know. Obama doesn’t care about gays, the environment, women. All those things are tools used to drive stakes into the heart of this country. It comes down to annihilation. It’s that plain, simple, and horrible.
LMAO that be funny photoshop LOL!
Nope - You're not protected under any anti-discrimination law.
But, if you're a white Christian or conservative, you are most likely to be on the Domestic Terror watch list so keep your head low.
GOD he sure is in love with the queers. I’ve never seen anything like it.
gays often require sick leave for throat irritation and hemorrhoids
They’re going to be on sick leave a lot.
Obama also to allow sodomite partners to be buried in national cemetaries all over the country. Marriage not necessary. Obama also to allow social security benefits for homosexual partners, marriage not necessary. Military base housing to allow sodomites to shack up in base housing, or draw BAQ and live off-base with his butt-buddy, marriage not necessary. Now let a straight man and his girlfriend apply for BAQ without being married and they’ll be laughed out of the building.
