Central American immigrant parents agonize when child crosses border alone
CNN ^ | June 21, 2014 | By Michael Martinez and Jaqueline Hurtado

Like many immigrant parents of Central American children who cross the U.S.-Mexico border alone, Elva Marroquin Rosales is now in agony over what became of her two small youngsters who dared to enter the United States illegally by crossing Rio Grande River.

For two or three weeks, the Los Angeles area mother heard nothing about her son Angel, 10, and daughter Dulce, 7. It's a silence many Central American families in the United States endure, wondering for weeks or even months if their child is alive or dead.

Then, Marroquin finally heard word about two weeks ago: she received a phone call from an "immigration" official in Texas who desperately sought the mother's voice in order to calm her two sobbing children, who were apparently in a detention facility.

"My children were heartbroken, sad, tearful, crying beyond comparison, begging me to take them out of there," Marroquin, 25, said. "Their begging was so distressing because I couldn't run to get them."

Since then, Marroquin has been unable to track down the detention facility in Texas that called her, and now the angst of her children's absence goes on, day after day.

A 25 year old illegal alien "Mom" sends her 10 year old son and 7 year old daughter alone with a coyote the length of Mexico and illegally enter the US ... and we're supposed to feel sorry for them? Deport the whole damned bunch of these invaders. They will be a burden on Child Protective Services for the next decade.

It’ child abuse / neglect in this country if you leave your 8 year old to babysit your 5 year old while you walk to the corner to get a loaf of bread. This is child abuse, not “agonizing.”

“In Marroquin’s case, she and her husband have been living in the United States for six years and now have an 8-month-old baby, their third child, whom the two older siblings haven’t met face-to-face.”

They abandoned two children for six years? Wouldn’t that be the very definition of `unfit parents’ ?
Well, we must reunite these people ASAP and pay them a large sum for their emotional distress.

She is shedding crocodile tears.

Yep - Elva should not have sent her children to the U$A alone. This is just part two of the plan - gin up some pity for the ‘parent$’ so they can come here and $ign up for the goodie$.

Wait a minute!! The article says “the Los Angeles area mother”....huh? She’s in this country and the kids are sent over the border from where to find her in LA???? If that’s what was going on they should be sent back to whoever sent them across ( I don’t think those 2 kids could cross the Rio Grande alone) and send mom packing too.

They dumped their children knowing that we won’t deport them and that we’ll accept the parent once the child has some kind of status.

If I were president I would be loudly talking about the possibility of putting these abandoned children up for adoption by American families.

“child abandonment is a crime I thought”

I thought so too. Never in a million years would I have sent my children alone into such a dangerous situation. It’s not just abandonment, it’s cruelty, neglect, endangerment and certainly, it was clearly done with “malice aforethought.”

The mother is a felon. And not just for having apparently gotten into the U.S. illegally.

I’d vote for you! :)

That is a great idea. The children are very likely adorable (although I wonder about serious psychological abandonment issues) and there are so many couples who want desperately to care for a child of their own.

People go NUTS if a child is left unattended in a car for one minute in this country and I’m expected to feel sorry for this woman? Not on your life.

When I was in college I had a friend who worked for an organization that spent all its time bringing in Somalis and Hmong and Serbians and anybody else who wanted in. I always felt that was cowardly. If you really want to help them, go over there and help them straighten out their country, don’t bring them over here and turn us into Somalia.

Here’s how it works in my town - unfortunately:

Daddy has two women w/ two families - one in Guatemala, one in FL. The wife in FL spits out a kid every 14 months - like clockwork.

The women shop in Walmart w/ ebt cards like it’s their God given right. If their kids get sick, they just wheel them down on the stroller to the emergency room. Front of the line - no charge.

The men drive cars and even if they get pulled over w/ no license (which happens a lot), nothing ever comes of it. They might spend 3-4 days in the detention center and lose the car, but they’ll just start all over again.

Usually there is a shady attorney that handles their benefits and taxes and gets them an ITIN number. This allows businesses to hire them and actually withold their federal taxes.

Then the attorney really gets creative with the tax returns - EITC fraud even in this little town would probably blow all our minds. This is where we are getting clobbered.

All the while, the illegal sends 1/2 his pay back to Guatemala - through western union.

Who are separating the illegal migrants families? Certainly, not the U.S., parents sent their kids to U.S. alone to confront possible death, rape and all kind of abuse by the human traffic cartel and when the head of migrant families who are already living illegally in U.S. are deported, instead of taking with them their children they opt for the breaking of their family and abandon their children in a foreign country while demanding that in the name of “family reunification” the U.S. must respect their human right to invade our country.

Excerpt:

“It’s about to get worse. . . Entire villages are emptying out and coming from Central America through Mexico to the United States. They’ll be hitting in the next couple weeks. What you are seeing right now is the tip of the iceberg.”

The Daily Caller reports, “a leaked estimate by a top official in the Department of Homeland Security says the 12-month inflow will reach 90,000 by October, and then grow by another 142,000 in the next 12 months before October 2015.” That’s over 230,000, nearly a quarter million that the Democrats hope to dump on US taxpayers. Soon, this number will have grown by millions.

The train that departs from Nicaragua and heads north to the United States. The train illegally brings an estimated 500,000 people per year to the United States.

The times I was in Central America, there were herds of kids looking after themselves. It was common for the parents to go off to work and leave the kids to their own devices all day. I also saw kids as young as 6 running the family stall at the market, by themselves and completely unsupervised.

While I agree this parent has burned their parenting card, I wouldn’t guarantee they had any “control” even when the kids were home.

Good point, and guess what, I was one of those kids, working half my life for nothing to help my father at his business. I was also farmed out to my three uncles for nothing, once again, not even a thank you. It is simply a matter of culture, I won't go into the morality.

For the life of me, I don’t understand how comprehensive immigration reform is going to solve any of this. Let’s say the Democrats and GOPe manage to push it through. In what we will that change anything other than to start another wave of illegals? If there is no will to stop this malarkey NOW, what makes anyone think there will be will to stop it later with or without amnesty? It’s either open borders and no more America, or we enforce existing law and defend our culture and nation.

To control our southern borders and stop the thousands of children from Latin America from sneaking into the United States, we need at least two new amendments to the Constitution, something like this:

1. "School attendance: Only citizens, legal residents, those with special student visas can attend elementary, high school, and colleges in the United States."

2. "One parent must be a citizen before a newborn child is given automatic citizenship."

3. Felony: We must finally declare that crossing the border illegally is a felony.

Illegal parents come to the United States for the wonderful benefits that their children can receive, like a quality education and great health care. Can you blame them for making the dangerous, long trip with their young children, or sending their children by themselves with the hope that the United States will automatically let them stay?

I don't understand how a child can illegally cross the southern border one day and automatically be eligible to enroll in public school the next day. That is wrong.
