www.zerohedge.com ^ | 06/20/2014 | Tyler Durden

Two days ago, before it was formalized that the US tacitly, if not explicitly, now supports the removal of the Iraqi Prime Minister whom it itself had helped elect, we summarized the geopolitical tensions and "national interests" in Iraq, which is shaping up to be a proxy war that makes last year's Syrian escapade pale by comparison, as follows: ...

Obama wants to lead from behind. Putin wants to take the lead.

Completely fits with Moscow’s interests in the region, i.e., pro-Tehran, pro-Damascus.

Moscow’s interests are the same everywhere: Pro-Moscow and anti-US

I don’t disagree, but there are places Moscow can jump in and Beijing can’t, and this is one of them. I think Washington and Moscow both are interested in beating Beijing to the punch, and, in that way, sometimes their interests overlap. Just sayin’….

I think Obama and Putin both hate this country, so they’re interests sometimes overlap

Good point. Putin hasn’t pushed for all the ‘gender’ stuff, though.

Of course, Obama never saw this coming. Southeastern Iraq is already united with Iran in all but name. ISIL will still get what they can and can test Jordan. The worst of all possible worlds for us and Israel though Obama won’t see it either.

What a mess...Our troops are over there supposedly supporting the gov't of the current president of Iraq...Obama wants to eliminate the president just as he did in Egypt and Libya...So what, our military is supposed to switch sides???

Now we support the terrorists while Russia is going to support the good guys...

At least there's some consistency in Russian foreign policy. Putin opposes Sunni jihadis in Syria, and now in Iraq.

Whereas Barry somehow supports Sunni jihadis in Syria and opposes them in Iraq.

Why no intrepid member of our MSM has inquired about this seeming inconsistency on the part of the most brilliant mind to ever occupy the WH is of course hardly surprising, since they haven't bothered to notice themselves as their lips are too firmly fixed to Barry's shiny dark posterior.

Of course some one could have impeached him or 25’d him for mental issues a while back....Instead of helping him.

“Obama never saw this coming”

Did Bush see it coming? Malaki the pro-Iran Shiite became president under Bush, not under Obama.

“Putin to Obama: “My pawn places your King in danger, - - - AGAIN! ROTFLMAO!!””

How true is that???

This not only displaces US Interests in the Middle East, but puts Russia against the forces arrayed against the Russian Proxy Syria, as well.

I can only imagine the laughing in the Kremlin when this proposal hit the table.

As I have often said before:

This is Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals” vs. Machiavelli’s “The Prince”.

And nary a Russian Bullet fired.

Well, maybe a few shots in the air over celebratory Vodka “Shots.”
