And if you tried to make them live on the returns of a measly million they’d start a riot.

Eggzacly! Deposit $1,000,000 in my credit union and it will earn you, $1,700 per year.

0.17% - of course you may do a little better than that with different investments.

When Hillary lost out to Obama, I was happy. I even believed at the time that if one of the rats were to win the general that Hillary would be a "better" prez than Obama, I still enjoyed seeing her get her butt kicked, I can't stand the "woman". Must be a personal thing.

I hate to be on Hillary’s side, but

Why have we gotten to the point where being wealthy is a sin ?

You get to be wealthy by providing something that someone or many people deem to be valuable.

I say the wealthier you are, the more value you have provided to your fellow man.

If Bill and Hillary have made their money honestly (and I mean not by turning 1000 dollars into 100,000 “trading” cattle futures and “reading the wall street journal”) then I say bravo.

If people want to pay 100,000 to hear Bill speak, well bully for Bill for giving them what they want.

Frankly, I wish I was as wealthy as Romney. I wish I had saved or created as many jobs as Romney. I would not mind being Romney. It’s great to be Romney.

Psst, read the wall street journal and trade cattle futures.

It’s not how much you have, it’s how grateful you are for what you have. She must be one miserable person.///

In one of Billy Graham's sermons, he stated, “There are two great disappointments in life. One is, not getting everything you desire in life. The other is getting it.”

“I don’t see how you can argue that having only 100 million makes you able to ‘feel our pain.’ “

It depends on assets vs. cash flow.

I know a couple who own 100 acres of very developeable farm land valued at about 40,000 an acre or 4 million. The land has a farmhouse where they live and the land has been in the family since before the civil war.

The only problem is they are retired and the husband has alzheimers and the 100 acres may be worth 4 mill but produces cash like a farm or about 20,000 a year.

She has put the farm up for sale along with the house because she can’t make it on 20 k a year.

Selling the house will get her 500k no taxes and they pay 20% on the gain on the farm up to 250k where the Obama and Ohio income taxes kick in to the tune of 50 percent combined.

Selling the 4 million will net them about 2.7 mill after tax for them to retire on.

Are they “filthy Rich ?”

Why have we gotten to the point where being wealthy is a sin ?

I am honestly asking, why do you misconstrue things as the opposite? People are not criticizing Hillary because she's wealthy, they are criticizing her, because she is acting poor, while being wealthy. So, if you are asking why, "being wealthy is a sin," how does that translate into being on Hillary's side? Hillary obviously is in the, "being wealthy is a sin," camp, because she keeps trying to portray herself as being struggling when she clearly isn't. If she thought being wealthy was okay, she could come out and say something like, "Bill and I have been incredibly fortunate and we worked hard, and now we are blessed with wealth way beyond what the average person has." I am really curious how you took too opposing ideas and acted like they were the same?

Bad situation. Asset poor. Me, I would sell for the $4 mill and get out before the next big collapse. I was in a similar situation with stock once. Couldn't afford the taxes.

The only reason Hil is pretending to be poor is because a large plurality or even a slight majority of the american people think it is a sin to be rich.

It is not.

It is just depressing that so many people think being rich is a sin.

Romney was never hypocritical about his wealth yet vast numbers of peope from mostly the left but also the right and center still did not like him for it.

You are right, the top leftists don’t really believe the crap they spew and their followers are so blinded by it they refuse to see this.

Romney did look very uncomfortable about it. I thought Private Equity people were supposed to be macho, but he came off as unconfident and wimpy. I do think that people, perhaps subconscious detected that Romney looked guilty about his wealth. Ultimately, Romney seemed to agree wealth is a sin.

Nancy Pelosi doesn't look guilty, despite being the richest person in the House. She doesn't brag about it, but it's not exactly hidden.

Pelosi and her family got free rides on military jets being served by military personnel like royalty as Speaker. So she is definitely guilty.
