Update: CNN affiliate KHOU reports Genesis Haley was found alive by a jogger who says she found the baby in a car seat abandoned in the same area where the Amber Alert was issued. The baby was taken to a hospital for a medical examination.
Authorities in Texas have issued an Amber Alert for a missing 8-month-old baby girl who was abducted early Monday morning.
Police say 8-month-old Genesis Haley was in her mothers car at a Houston gas station when the car was stolen with the child still inside, police say.
The mothers 2004 green four-door Saturn Ion has been located, however, police say the childs car seat was missing from the vehicle.
Man that would be rough.
Thank God the car thief did the right thing. I assume this was a pretty heavily transited jogging path, so the thief probably knew that somebody would find the child.
Not that I’m defending car thieves! And it would have been better if they had dropped her off at a fire station.
I’m guessing she didn’t have the car turned off and the doors locked. Lesson learned.
Is this in Houston, TX? Depending upon the time of day and how long she was abandoned in the field, a baby could have cooked to death in the Texas heat.
I remember that happening in the late ‘70s when thugs carjacked and kidnapped a nurse coming home from her shift and tied her to a post out by an uninhabited area near the Astrodome after they’d emptied her ATM account. She was dead by the time the police found her 2 days later.
If a mother needs a lesson on not leaving her child in the car, with the keys in it, she’s not going to learn the lesson.
Not anymore than Obama voters will not vote for Hillary or her VP pick, Mr. Castro.
Now, if this horrible car thief broke in, dragged the woman out of the car, knocking her out, and she had her car doors locked and they were in a neighborhood where this was less likely, she has an excuse.
Otherwise, no, she’s not learning anything
Sorry, but that is high on the lah lah meter thinking.
Heat deaths are insufferably torturous. Thanks be to God the baby survived long enough to be found in time.
No offense intended, livius.
Did the right thing.You nuts.
If the jogger had not happened to go by the baby would have died.
The perp if possing a brain cell 1 each, would have left the little thing out in the open not it the weeds road side.
Yes, Houston, TX
No, the “right thing” would have been to pull over and call 911.
But then criminals don’t think that way.
Prayers up for that dear baby.
I thought this was a jogging trail, which would have meant that somebody would have noticed the baby.
But I don’t know anything about the area, so perhaps it was more remote. As I said, he could have dropped the baby off at a fire station, no questions asked.
Just stole a car....Really don’t want to go to a FD/PD
No, probably not...but the FD doesn’t ask any questions.
Most car thieves, unless they’re living in a place full of chop shops which cut cars up for resale (such as NYC, where I had a car stolen), have just stolen the car either for a joy ride or to commit a quick crime (like a 7/11 stick up). So they’re going to abandon it anyway.
