To all that shoot first and ask questions later:
I am generally conservative, sometimes lean towards libertarian and always TRY to live in harmony with the kingdom of God; I claim no loyalty to a particular denomination but try to look for the good and bad in each.
I am a son of immigrants, mine immigrated to this country before the Revolutionary war from England and Germany. I am a Sixth Generation Texan, with a lineage that goes back to the Republic of Texas.
I am a white, anglo-saxon protestant.
I am a man that believes there are a few things that transcend patriotism or national or denominational loyalties.
I am also a man that has spent over two years working and volunteering face to face with this problem. I am intimately familiar with the scope of this, as far south as Central America and as far north as Washington, DC.
I am a man that believes if we would just spend a small portion of what we spent traipsing around the desert of Iraq keeping the Saudi Royal Family and the Multi-national Oil companies happy AND traipsing around Afghanistan securing the massive amounts of lithium to keep the electronic conglomerates happy, we could help to solve some of the problems in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador that make these countries uninhabitable for a young man.
These kids are here and they are not going back...should we argue about the politics of it all or actually do something to make lemonade out of the lemons?
Yeah, we’re all the descendants of immigrants. Legal ones. And they didn’t come here to play the nation’s people for fools and to grab all the free stuff they could get.
Look, your posting history says quite a bit. I’ve never seen a conservative try to defend SOCIAL JUSTICE as a Biblical concept.
I think Sans-Culotte might have been right...you bought into Pfleger’s schtick.
You sound like a man whose ancestors fought and died for this country and established a constitution and laws. As did mine and still do. Not running over with your hands out pawning off your children and expecting someone to take care of you on the expense of others. Show some respect for those you say you came from.
