One other note...Everyone should have a plan of escape prior to SHTF. Pray that you will not have to use it.
I used to say that America does not in any way resemble the country into which I was born in 1944 but yes, you are correct, it bears very little resemblance even to the America of 2005. Merle Haggard wrote this thirty or so years ago and it begins on a sad note but winds up very hopeful. I think now you could just stop with the sad part.
