No, the UK isn’t a ‘very dangerous’ country.

Our murder rate is a quarter of yours, our gun murder rate one-sixteenth. Yes, we have crime, and some of it violent, but for all the hoopla and hype, the UK is a safe country to live in.

Frankly, being told the UK is violent by an American perhaps is the definition of irony.

I’m too lazy to look up the data but my recollection is that there is considerably more violent crime per capita in the UK than in America. You focus on guns, I focus on violent crime (strong-armed robberies, break-ins with assaults on the homeowners, that sort of thing). Deny?

I have been to your country several times. For several reasons (one of which is your country’s crime problem), I won’t be back...something I’m sure distresses you.

P.S. I don’t worry about violent crime where I live since I have the means of fending off assailants: my guns. Too bad about you.
