Disagreement over issues is fine and healthy, but your comment about Krauthammer’s “long walk off a short pier” is repugnant and disreputable to the forum.
Krauthammer has a consistent pattern: espouse and endorse a kind of lofty, cerebral moderation until all facts render the position completely untenable.
Then retrench, reconfigure and pronounce from on high his own version of what has been painfully obvious to others all along, rather in the manner of a canonical dispensation.

Oh, come on. You’re getting as lofty as Krauthammer. FR is a happy rumble. It’s full of vim and vigor, insults, bon mots and outright nastiness. It’s why I love it, anyway.
Please forgive me for preaching - I also enjoy the rough and tumble exchange of ideas. But I have lived long enough to witness the unintended impact of my own cruel words, and am growing cognizant of the fact that I will have to account for them one day. Right you are, Doughty One, Obama is advocating non-involvement. We can choose his path or continue the war path. Last century war in Europe, then war in the Pacific. Now the new century has war in Middle East and Africa, with an eye on South America. We have picked up the war baton dropped by England. There is someone to save, China can you spare a dime?
What is our mission? America has a choice to make.
Our national debt should be at least $3 trillion less right now. Iraq should be reimbursing us. Some of our troops should still be there. It should be a stable nation.
China is quickly turning into a world class threat. We are downsizing.
Our goals should be to defund China immediately. Europe and the United States should withdraw from it.
There are measures that can be taken. We’re just playing the fool-card at every turn.
