Despite the stereotype of having crazy politicians, Mississippians prefer having boring, behind-the-scenes Representatives and Senators who are skilled at Retail politics and the Art-of-the-Deal. They prefer their politicians well-trained, with pedigrees beginning with being from in the proper fraternity at Ole Miss (or Jackson State for black politicians), clerking and then working on the staff of some Representative or Senator, getting elected to the State Legislature, waiting their turn to be elected to Congress.
These politicians are skilled at bringing home the pork for our State, never realizing that so much dependence on Gubmint money is one of the things keeping the State 50th in most categories.
Mississippi's Congressmen have thick Southern accents when they're back home, but the accents usually leave once they get to Washington.
I read that Mississippi gets $2 back for every dollar it sends to Washington. Got to keep that gravy train going.
I’m sure “The Party” is now telling/bribing McDaniels to cool his heels. Bide his time and promising him that this is Thad’s last run and he is next in line. That promise will hold only till MS’s current governor, Phil Bryant, runs for Cochran’s seat next time.
The only way the GOP will learn not to keep dissing our guys is to run against them in the general. I agree that McDaniel could win a 3-way race.
