The safety inspection is statewide. As I recall the emissions test is only required in certain counties.

Many counties in Texas require an emmissions test. Cities like Houston, Dallas, even Austin.

So far San Antonio (me lives here) does not require emmissions.

Emission tests more so.

Only by a state that has accepted extortion money from the Feds.

"Institute mandatory emissions inspections and we'll send you this $250 million in funds to improve your highway infrastructure."

I'm betting Texas has told the Feds to go stick it. As should every state in the Union.

I haven't needed those for nearly 14 years and had nearly forgotten about them. Those traffic cameras all around the Denver area are creepy, too. Surveillance cameras (different kind) are even starting to appear in the middle of nowhere on the Range (one spotted in Park County on a two-lane highway almost 100 miles from the Springs).
