Russia's upper house of parliament voted Wednesday to revoke the right of President Vladimir Putin to use Russian troops in Ukraine, as efforts to calm a separatist uprising in Ukraine's east continue.

The Federation Council had approved Putin's request for a resolution allowing for the use of force on March 1.

But on Tuesday, the President sent a letter to the speaker of the upper house asking it to cancel the resolution. Only one senator voted against revoking the powers Wednesday, with 153 in favor.

Putin's request was made in light of ongoing talks on how to settle the crisis in Ukraine's eastern regions, said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

It is significant to note that when asked about this yesterday, Putin replied that "Lugansk isn't part of Ukraine ". The same probably applies to Donbass.

Well at least the soviets understand how government is supposed to work. Maybe we can get rid of our senate and just ask the Kremlin to sub-let theirs for us?

There was more turnover in the old Soviet legislature, the Supreme Soviet, than there is in the US Congress. Interesting, eh?

Putin himself requested this change. There is an inference that the Russian Senate was going against him.

More likely, the very rich didn't like having their foreign assets frozen.

Putin continues to “set the game board” to his advantage....one needs to always look beyond what he is currently doing as simply means to the end of his plans as he moves remarkably forward. While it’s reported of Putins latest move he is already steps ahead the moment.

Putin is all over the International Stage now...meeting with many nation leaders across the globe. While our President sits at home twiddling his fingers.

Well...those in the Senate who voted to revoke Putin’s power, may soon be dispatched to the political graveyard post haste.

At least if he were to ask, that would be obama’s advice.

Isn’t Putin giving Kiev enough rope to hang themselves?

“Isn’t Putin giving Kiev enough rope to hang themselves?”

That was my thought...
He’s playing this close, and Kiev keeps making mistake after mistake.

Now he is making it clear that he has no intention of invading “Ukraine”, while at the same time being clear that Lugansk and Donetsk aren’t “Ukraine”, but independent states.

Between this, and the offer to back the Maliki government in Baghdad, he just keeps biatchslapping the US MEdia Messiah.

More likely they will keep sending terrorists across the border, wearing Ukrainian army uniforms and insignia and claim that it’s just civil war they have nothing to do with.
