A group of Oklahoma death row inmates filed a federal lawsuit against state officials on Wednesday, arguing their executions would violate the constitution and amount to human experimentation on prisoners after a botched execution earlier this year.
Lawyers filed the complaint on behalf of 20 men and one woman in the US district court for the western district of Oklahoma against the states corrections director Robert Patton, Oklahoma State Penitentiary warden Anita Trammell, members of the board of corrections and unnamed people involved in lethal injection.
The unnamed defendants are a doctor responsible for inserting intravenous lines and cutting into inmates to gain vein access, a paramedic also responsible for inserting IVs and three anonymous executioners who administer the drugs.
The plaintiffs are not challenging their convictions or sentences of death in this action, according to the complaint. They are challenging only the way in which their sentences of death will be carried out by the defendants.
The lawsuit follows the botched state killing of Clayton Lockett, who died 43 minutes after his execution began the night of 29 April. The state used an untried dose of midazolam in an attempt to sedate him, but he was not declared unconscious for 10 minutes. Then for three minutes, Lockett writhed, groaned and tried to speak, lifting his head and shoulders from the gurney before officials drew blinds shielding the scene from the witnesses view.

If you can’t handle the punishment don’t commit the crime. Simple!
The new choices will be a tank of piranha or a tank of sharks or gators.
More of a mother nature thingy..
Just so the fish nor gators don’t get sick.
I’m against the death penalty, I mean where is the punishment? They put you to sleep like a puppy and that’s it.
I have a better idea: Throw the prisoner in a cement cell with no padding, and 300 watt speakers welded to the ceiling. And you play them this recording over and over 24/7....
Wait, here’s a better torture than that video............
Its the liberal do-gooders who are responsible. If safe and effective drugs that have been used for decades were still available, we wouldn’t be having this conservation.
Secondly, Lockett himself is to blame for his own “botched” execution.
Note to other dummazzes facing the needle: Do not open a vein hours before your gurney ride. It will not go well for you.
Why in the world is this so difficult? Executions have been performed since the dawn of time, and here the state has to make a circus of it, draw attention to the whole thing and cause outrage.
I picture myself being wrongly convicted of a crime worthy of capital punishment and suffering greatly at the hands of The State.... that being said... when they “come for me” I don’t care how innocent I am... I will start shooting because I recognize I am pretty much screwed, no matter what.
Obama Admin hates the Consternation but uses it for gay marriage and other bizarre causes ,so why can’t death row inmates try it out ,it’s not going to kill them D’oh
