Multimillionaire Chen Guangbiao, the self-proclaimed "Most Influential Person of China," held a massive event in New York City Wednesday where he handed out hundred dollar bills to 200 homeless people at The Loeb Boathouse in Central Park on Wednesday.
"He's the man! He's the man!" one man shouted throwing his arm around Guangbiao and waving the three one-hundred dollar bills he received in the air.
"I wish and hope that you will put the money into good use," Guangbiao said during remarks delivered via a Chinese translator.
"I hope that you will use this money as seed money for whatever job training or job education you will receive so that you can help yourself," he continued.
Guangbiao, 46, then told the crowd that he would like to do this every year. They began to cheer and whistle.
Along with the cash, Guangbiao's homeless guests were treated to a lunch of seared sesame crusted tuna with an Asian slaw and steak with mashed potatoes and green beans by a white-gloved waitstaff.
"They're not feeding the press?" one of the many members of the media who were in attendance quipped beforehand.
Guangbiao began his New York City adventure Tuesday when he strolled through the streets of Tribeca with a photographer and reporter from the New York Post attempting to hand out $100 bills to passersby. That effort didn't exactly go as planned as many of the New Yorkers Guangbiao tried to hand money to ignored his entreaties.
The lunch also didn't go off without a hitch. According to the event's invitation, the lunch was for 300 "poverty stricken people." However, only 200 people from the New York City Rescue Mission were able to attend.
At least 100 other homeless community members were left outside the event.

They’ll be hungry again in an hour...................
The homeless guy can use that three hundred to get a cup of coffee and a hot dog.
Poverty Stricken = Democrat Stricken...
$100 or $300 goes a lot further in China than it does in NY.
Still, nice guesture.
Despite that we should raise the import tariffs and bring American jobs back.
U R funny. It’s like Venezuela offering energy assistance to the poor in New England. Of course we should accept it! Let those who have been bought off explain their support.
“by a white-gloved waitstaff”.
Midtown liquor stores had a good day
Wow. Real charity instead of family busting and prevention of new business competition.
Pointless. Worse than pointless, for many of the chronically homeless, a cash infusion will fuel some good highs for a short while, elevating their addiction to whatever ultimately brought them to the streets, coming down won’t be so easy, and will likely lead to a small scale surge in crime, a desperate spree to maintain their now elevated base chemistry. For much of the rest, they’re simply nuts and will piss away the money on absurdities. To truly help these types of people, they’d need to be institutionalized at the cost of tens of thousands; and at that, only some would be able to recover some semblance of a normal life, provided THAT is what they want. Having spent time with such people, I fear normalcy is unobtainable.
A hundred bucks to 200 people is a “massive event”?
“where he handed out hundred dollar bills to 200 homeless people”
Guess he figured out the problem with Red China’s strategy of flooding the US with cheap garbage; he has to spend the devalued dollars here...
“Midtown liquor stores had a good day”
I don’t think so; the rich Red took them “to serve man”...
At least here is doing something. Unlike our Golfer in Chief.
