At this point Poroshenko’s words have proved shallow at best...what he says and does are two entirely different things. He cannot continue to defy the cease-fire and expect to be believable.

It is clear that Putin is ready to back off but it is not the case for Kiev.
They have Biden’s son in Kiev as a gas tycoon now and posed to attack Russian interests using this situation regardless any attempts to seize tentions.

Yes, and he's been backing off...the problem is the East continues to be get bombed and fired on regardless of either Putin or Porsh stating otherwise...at least what's left of it. Porsh has really hammered the entire area destroying infrastructure, businesses and pretty much anything in sight.

Added to the heap are the Oligarchs with their personal army's fighting for the Eastern and Southeastern territory they believe they are entitled to keep. ( Mafia style).....not to mention some of them have personal vendetta's against Putin when he stopped their scams in Russia, so they are inciting anything which can make Russia look like the bad guy in all this.

The gas is in the East as well, so no doubt Keiv (Bidens Son as you said) has dibs on it and supporting anyone who'll keep the heat on Russia...the last thing they want is for the people to become a part of Russia. But in reality they could give a crap about the people or the infrastructure there....they can get the gas without it.

Added to this by bombing it all to heck, they've forced the Russian people to flee to Russia....thus eliminating the population which Porsh and the Right sector see as a thorn in their side.

In the end I see nothing favorable coming for the Ukrainian population...rather the US/EU/Nato and the Oligarchs will and are reaping their country of anything and everything of value....it will be a debtor nation full of austerity which will impoverish the people far worse than they were before...and already is.

Interesting possibilities ahead...

Putin has asked Russia’s parliament to revoke a law authorising him ‘to use military force’ in Ukraine...and I understand it’s been granted.

Interesting is Putin is again ahead in his steps... because according to International Law, with the authorization for military force off the table, Putin can now freely go into Ukraine for humanitory purposes and there’s nothing Nato can do if Poroshenko moves to plan B, the cutoff date, and starts bombing again.

“Putin has asked Russia’s parliament to revoke a law authorising him ‘to use military force’ in Ukraine...”

When asked about this, Putin said “Lugansk is not part of Ukraine....” That likely applies to Donetsk, as well, as the Russian position.

IMO, he is making it clear he doesn’t want to invade “Ukraine”, namely Kiev, (Why would he want to swallow an even greater economic basket case?), by revoking his already “legally approved” right to do so, at the same time laying the ground for helping the DPR/LPR.

He can say that he has “done everything he could” to assure peace, and must now act.

Crimea, Lugansk, and Donetsk, the majority-ethnic Russian areas, end up in the Russian sphere of influence and control, along with almost all of the economic assets (coal, gas, nickel, the steel mills, the defense industries, etc.) the IMF wanted to “assure” its loans to Ukraine, and Europe gets to deal with the corrupted and bankrupted rest of the country.

Eventually, a disgruntled populace in Ukraine, again on the losing end, and watching things get worse economically after they were promised cake and roses, again overthrows the Gov and returns to the Russian sphere. Or get folded into Poland, Romania and Hungary.

All because of the meddling billionaires, and Obama’s failed foreign policies.

Machiavelli must be smiling from above, he could have written the scenario himself.

By the way, I called the above scenario on Day One, on Jim Robinson’s thread, the day after the Government fell in the coup.

Yes you did call it early on and seems to now be playing out as exactly that.

Had Putin wanted to invade he would have done so long beforehand.....and had the EU/US really wanted Ukraine under Nato that too would have been done long ago. Ukrainians were taken for a ride, courted and coerced... to their own ruin yet again, unfortunately. Your wrote:...."Crimea, Lugansk, and Donetsk, the majority-ethnic Russian areas, end up in the Russian sphere of influence and control, along with almost all of the economic assets (coal, gas, nickel, the steel mills, the defense industries, etc.)....the IMF wanted to “assure” its loans to Ukraine, and Europe gets to deal with the corrupted and bankrupted rest of the country."

And that's exactly how it will play out as I see it too.
