Sarah Palin calls for tea partyers to 'take back' the nation

SEVIERVILLE — Four stalwarts of the nation’s conservative movement exhorted an appreciative Sevier County tea party crowd of several hundred Thursday night to stay true to their principles.

The event had the feel of a pep rally at times, as the speakers cheered the U.S. as the greatest nation on earth. Then each laid out a litany of things wrong with the country, from failure to adhere to Christian governance to multiple scandals to the breakdown of the traditional family to excessive political correctness.

I don’t like many of the cultural and electoral changes that our current immigration practices bring - but the “third-world scum” message isn’t going to advance any cause.

I know someone who was sexually assaulted by an illegal. It really messed her up. She is still recovering.

Also, I know many subcontractors. A few had thousands of dollars worth of power tools stolen by "illegals" on job sites. They learned quickly to lock their trucks while on the job.

Another friend who is came legally from Guatamala over 40 years ago and is a legal U.S. citizen. Well, his daughter speaks Spanish and while having lunch with two illegal angels they ask her how much she is getting back from the government? She stated none. Well these two were about 20 -22 years of age. One stated they were getting $23k and the other over $35k. They claimed an outrageous number of dependents and it all went through. My friend said his daughter's jaw dropped when she heard describe their criminal acts.

So yes, MOST are illegal "scum" who have no respect for anything American and who consciously broke our laws to get here and are scamming the system.

They are here not out of love but to utterly destroy America as founded.

She is talking about a three way split. Use the Republicans and Democrats to split the big government fascist vote. Have your third party win due to the split. It is starting to work in the UK and in Europe.

I think the name "Tea Party" has lost its original meaning. Too many have hi-jacked the name to use it for fund raising and who knows where the $$$ goes.

The mess the GOPe has caused in MS is, IMO, going to have unintended consequences for them long range.

I'll never vote for any of them or their chosen candidates again. I will never enable them in their endeavors. They are no better than Democrats!

Jenny Beth Martin (Tea Party Patiots) has a reported salary of $450,000 a year. Her organization spent $0 to help Dave Brat.

They allegedly put all their eggs into the McDaniel race. No report on how much that was, but I am betting it was a whole lot less than JBM's salary.

The issue with me isn’t that you seem to be against Mrs. Palin. Lots of people here are and it’s a valid viewpoint even if it’s one to which I do not necessarily subscribe in the main. Where specifically do you disagree?

Col. West was very inspiring at the rally. He said in essence, Plant the flag and take a stand. We just have to keep battling back, and never surrender.

In the 20th Century, I can think of only one GOP President that stood for Conservative values. That, of course, was President Calvin Coolidge, greatly admired by President Ronald Reagan. All of the others with an "R" next to their name were liberals to one degree or another. Barry Goldwater was still a true Conservative when he ran in 1964 but was thwarted at every turn by the liberal northeastern establishment of the Rockefeller-Javits wing. Nixon, once an inspirational figure as he fought communism in the 1940s and 1950s, had turned liberal by the time was elected in 1968.
