A very good article by John Hayward. Thanks for posting. BTTT!
The problem is that for impeachment to be more than symbolic, the Senate must vote to convict and remove from office. Unless there’s a radical change in the composition of the Senate this fall, which seems less and less likely every day, the House can impeach all it wants and it’s going to have no effect. Do you really think Obama cares?
As for defunding, Obama simply vetoes what he can, and ignores the rest.
That’s the whole point of this lawsuit: making Obama not only stop proclaiming law through regulatory means, but making him enforce the ones that Congress has passed and that he himself has had to sign.
I don’t know if it will work, of course, but I really think that it’s worth trying. And maybe it will at least attract some press attention.
There was a good editorial in the WSJ today marveling at the fact that Dems in the Senate don’t seem to mind that Obama is usurping their powers, too, and not enforcing even the laws that the Dem-controlled Senate has passed. The editors pointed out that Dems themselves should support this lawsuit, but the Obama-motivated control of Harry Reid over the Senate is so fierce that they have been virtually silenced.
There is something we can do. The military can keep its oath to defend the constitution.
Defund the Executive Branch NOW!
Precisely. Divide power once again between the people and the states.
