Rove: Obama Overreach Worse Than King George
Newser ^ | June 29 2014 | Polly Davis Doig

(Newser) – Karl Rove has evaluated President Obama's use of executive authority, particularly as it relates to his delayed deportation of some illegal immigrants, and he has found it more egregious than that of a couple of guys named George. Referring to his old boss, Rove says the Bush White House dismissed the notion that the president could legally exempt a "class of individuals" from immigration law. "The lawyers came back and said you have the ability to exempt individuals but no ability to exempt a class," he said today on Fox News, as per Politico. "And yet this president has exempted a class of people from enforcement of immigration laws." Which leads Rove to compare Obama to another George in history: "This is imperial power. This is George the Third. This is some monarch [saying]: ‘I am the law.'"

Rove did just fine. Stop killing your own. That’s partially how we lost the last election.

So Karl’s answer is to elect people who won’t try to stop him.

Two things are universal, hydrogen and stupidity. Rove got in line twice when God handed out the latter.

Stop killing your own.

I don't see Rove as "one of our own."

This coming from the man who orchestrated the election of Obama by moving GW so far to the center that the country thought, “What the heck! GW’s administration is so close being democrat we may as well elect one!”

Yeah, and thanks for helping to get him elected Rove, you ass hole.

If not for your help we would not have run McCain and “Frontrunner” Mitt when 70% of the GOP primary voters wanted someone else.

Karl - provide a call for action to go with your endless complaining. Without a call for action, it appears that being an eternal opposition party serves your interests.

Call for impeachment and a Senate trial, to lay out all those facts; let the Senate democrats try and defend.

Rove envies Obama which is why he’s helping leftist Repubs take down Conservatives who would stop Obama’s overreach.

“Our own.”

If “our own” includes those who slime Tea Party candidates while bragging about how much pork spending they bring back home, maybe they should no longer be “ours?”

F Karl Rove and the Barbour Hogs.

I don’t see Rove as “one of our own.”

Yeah, Rove fights the conservatives more than he does the Nobama. And how Rove and Barbour thought that alienating perhaps a third of the GOP base would help win the senate boggles the mind with their stupidity.

Thank you for referencing that article PoloSec. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Regarding Rove's vague insights concerning Obama overstepping his powers, I question the sincerity of "conservatives" like Rove who don't reference specific constitutional clauses to substantiate their insights.

For example, regarding so-called federal government power to regulate immigration, I don't think that we'll ever hear Rove note that the word immigration doesn't appear in the Constitution and that Thomas Jefferson had clarified, in terms of the 10th Amendment nonetheless, that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate immigration.

“4. _Resolved_, That alien friends are under the jurisdiction and protection of the laws of the State wherein they are: that no power over them has been delegated to the United States, nor prohibited to the individual States, distinct from their power over citizens. And it being true as a general principle, and one of the amendments to the Constitution having also declared, that “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people,” the act of the Congress of the United States, passed on the — day of July, 1798, intituled “An Act concerning aliens,” which assumes powers over alien friends, not delegated by the Constitution, is not law, but is altogether void, and of no force [emphasis added].” —Thomas Jefferson, Draft of the Kentucky Resolutions - October 1798.

So if Rove wants the federal government to have the constitutional authority to regulate immigration then he needs to do the following. He needs to encourage Congress to propose an immigration amendment to the Constitution to the states for ratification. And if the states choose to ratify Rove's amendement then Congress will have the express constitutional authority that it needs to regulate immigration and Rove will be a hero.
