I’m pretty sure that’s John Goodman in a wig and glasses.

Unbelievable. What a nice precedent. All ordinary citizens are now fair game for mainstream media libel I guess, they can say anything about anyone they want and not be held accountable for it since anyone they libel automatically becomes a public figure by virtue of the libel itself.

"May I suggest looking up “void ab initio”?"

May I suggest you put it in context to make whatever point you want to make? Because out of context it doesn't mean anything.

Actually, it was in context. A law which is unconstitutional is void as of passage because it can not be valid.

America has always assumed a “Natural Law” which was recognized by the Founders, not created by them.

Google ‘void ab initio’ - you will find it interesting.

No it wasn't. We weren't talking about any unconstitutional laws, and you didn't mention it.

What was being discussed was the "Sovereign Citizen" nonsense, which basically boils down to the silly notion that you can declare yourself sovereign and no longer subject to US law.

"Google ‘void ab initio’ - you will find it interesting.""

You presume too much.

“How did she get elected judge in the first place?”

Because the voters who could have chosen someone else couldn’t be bothered to do so.

Forget the appearance issue. She should wear a bag over her reasoning.

Is it ethical for the same judge who presided over his trial to preside over this trial?

It is not unethical. What she knows about Zimmerman she learned on the bench. (It would be unethical if she knew stuff about Zimmerman from private dealings with him.)

I don't know what the rule in Florida is, but there are courts where the judge who handled a criminal case is automatically assigned any related civil lawsuits (on the theory that the judge can get up to speed quicker). Other court systems discourage having the same judge handle related civil and criminal cases. There is a lot of variation from state to state (and from district to district in federal court).
