And I voted for this asswipe in 2008! I told myself that I was *really* voting for Palin. I told myself I was *really* voting "against" Obama. Those were of course rationalizations and lies; the truth is that I voted for McCain and that is ALL I did, no matter my additional intentions.

I'm glad he lost. If he had won, I would have been to blame for all the garbage he perpetrated on the U.S. and the Republican party because I voted for it.

We will ONLY start cleaning this country up when we SHATTER the illusion of voting "against." We have been voting "against" for decades and the reason it has failed is because voting "against" is imaginary, rationalization, wishful thinking. It's like hunting unicorns: your prey will ALWAYS be elusive because it is PRETEND.

This is precisely why we *must* let seats like McConnell's and Cochran's fall into democrat hands, if necessary, when the republicans turn their guns on us. John McCain and his ilk only feel emboldened when their attacks on us, the base, have no repercussions. They have chosen to appeal to liberals and progressives; let them win with liberal and progressive votes. Let them try to out-democrat the democrats. Not one conservative should feel an ounce of shame for withholding a vote from them. I'd rather have an opponent in front of me for six years than one entrenched at my back. Better to send a message that our support must be earned, and focus on the governor and representative elections during the interim.
