Two Chinese government ships sailed into disputed waters off Japan-administered islands in the East China Sea Monday, the Japanese coastguard said, as Tokyo prepared to strengthen its military posture.

The two vessels were sailing in territorial waters extending 12 nautical miles around one of the Senkaku islands, which China also claims and calls the Diaoyus, as of 10:30 am (0130 GMT).

Since Tokyo nationalised some of the islands in September 2012, Chinese vessels and aircraft have regularly approached them, playing cat and mouse with the Japanese coastguard.

This is neighborhood bully strong-arm robbery. Simple and effective. Like the bully, if Japan can adopt a really strong attitude then the bully will go away. But if they don’t the bully will keep taking stuff. Also, Japan needs to start moving its businesses out of China as they’re essentially arming the bully. Changing their constitution and exploding a few test nukes would be icing on the cake.

Japan should form an alliance with South Korea, India, Viet Nam, the Philippines and Taiwan. The United States will continue to occasionally elect a Jimmy Carter or Barak Obama and therefore can’t be depended on.

“As does every other western nation. “

China appears to be civilized. But it has no law we’d recognize and no intellectual property rights. I agree, we need to divest ourselves of everything Chinese.
