On Tuesday's broadcast of "The O'Reilly Factor," Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer gave his solution to the crisis at the southern United States border: a fence.
He argued that securing the border with a fence is a proven method and he pointed to other places where it has worked, including at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C.
"Alright, here's what I've been on for years," Krauthammer said. "You start with a fence. It's very simple. People say, 'Oh, fences don't work. You make a ladder.' Well, then you build two fences, triple strand fences. San Diego did that in the mid 90's and within a decade, the illegal immigration rate at that point was reduced by 90 percent and people ended up going through other places like Arizona."
"If fences don't work, why is there one around the White House?" he continued.
"If they don't work, why is it that the Israeli fence which separate Israel from the West Bank has cut down terror attacks within Israel by 99 percent. Fences work.
Yes, there are parts of the border where you can't have a fence, fine. So you don't have it in those areas and you do heavy patrols. But there is no reason why a rich country like us cannot put a fence across -- a double fence, a triple fence and patrol it all the time. That would have a tremendous impact."

Not sure why you’re being hammered on the fact that Bush did have a chance to build something and didn’t. I’ve wondered about that myself - it’s one of the things I expected from a Republican at the time. Of course now I know about the GOPe.
What gets me is how many lives would be saved by building it - both here in the US by us not getting murdered, raped, robbed, sickened, blown up by terrorists who have snuck in, and the other side by them not dying on the trip. Plus, maybe it would put pressure on the countries south of us to fix their problems....although that’s sort of a long shot.

Yep. IMMIGRATION NATURALIZATION SERVICES needs a lot more staff, receptionists, and have more offices, in every county seat an office for foreign citizens who are STAYING need to register. They need to report just like everyone of us living abroad, have had to register with local authorities who ‘watch’ us. We can’t go get involved in parades, do talk shows, be part of a political force, we don’t vote. I live abroad and my host country won’t even allow me to serve on the local PTA. Local police should be able to stop, detain, and question people NOT from the area as to their legal right to be in the USA. Sheriffs, Fire Marshalls, Game Warden and citizens could even do a CITIZENS ARREST. But the idea if one can JUST cross over the fence, he is therefore SAFE...won’t work.

There are lots of fences but no eyeballs connected to watchers charged with taking out the crossers. Rigorous and forceful ejection are more effective than a passive fence

They put up a fence between Asbury Park, NJ and the little town of Ocean Grove. Worked like a charm.
Wow. I live in Norway. I have been on a Christian TV talk show discussing how Obama has affected America. I can vote in local (not national) elections as a permanent resident. I do have to register with the police every 2 years. I have been to several protest rallies. I rarely see the police at these mostly at muzzie rallies. Good luck.
