On Tuesday's broadcast of "The O'Reilly Factor," Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer gave his solution to the crisis at the southern United States border: a fence.
He argued that securing the border with a fence is a proven method and he pointed to other places where it has worked, including at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C.
"Alright, here's what I've been on for years," Krauthammer said. "You start with a fence. It's very simple. People say, 'Oh, fences don't work. You make a ladder.' Well, then you build two fences, triple strand fences. San Diego did that in the mid 90's and within a decade, the illegal immigration rate at that point was reduced by 90 percent and people ended up going through other places like Arizona."
"If fences don't work, why is there one around the White House?" he continued.
"If they don't work, why is it that the Israeli fence which separate Israel from the West Bank has cut down terror attacks within Israel by 99 percent. Fences work.
Yes, there are parts of the border where you can't have a fence, fine. So you don't have it in those areas and you do heavy patrols. But there is no reason why a rich country like us cannot put a fence across -- a double fence, a triple fence and patrol it all the time. That would have a tremendous impact."

A Fence!?!?!?
What a novel idea!
Go to Arizona, to the Goldwater bombing range and say that
I know, I know it’s a little out of your comfort zone, but it is reality
I need an interpreter for your post. What are you talking about?
Arizona is not New jersey and the urban analogies are not valid compared to the realities of Arizona and Texas
Oh, you cleared that up! Phew. The point is that fences work. They work in all kinds of situations. I suppose you’re saying that fences don’t work in Arizona...or something like that.
Yet another example of a GOPe pundit using FR for show prep. I recall reading the comment about a fence around the WH right here a few years ago.
This Amnesty Liberal finally figured out a fence is needed.

Yep. See my #46.
testing...testing...1,2,3..is this thing on ?
It was the Berlin wall, not the the Germany wall.
West Berlin was surrounded by E. Germany.
The wall was to keep people in, not keep people out.
Anyone born here is a citizen.
Not only would the fence be a great idea, but if constructed by the government, it would create thousands of jobs, providing workers with valuable skills....road building, concrete work, electrical...food services, housing for the workers...it would give people who built it a sense of pride. ..............then again, all that makes sense.
A few months ago I was lost in Maryland (not that far from DC) and found myself driving by part of the outer perimeter of Andrews AFB.I’ll tell ya...there were one or two fences around *that* baby I can assure you.
I have no doubt that pundits check out these sites with a sneer and leave stealing a few ideas. Rush certainly scans this site during his show. He recently gave someone here a shout out. (This is on the Rush Limbaugh daily thread.)
Y’all misunderstand the White House fence.
It’s not there to keep people out...it’s there to keep Joe Biden in...
Rush certainly scans this site during his show. He recently gave someone here a shout out.

Well, I guess he has figured out where the conservative big brains spend time. (Along with the brain watchers like me. I always learn something here.)
Glad to hear he actually gave a shout-out to someone here. Maybe he’s been reading my snarky comments about his arrogance. :)
I believe he focuses on the Rush Limbaugh thread which happens every day.
I have tried listening to him, but he really is just too hard to take. For a lot of people around here, that is almost blasphemy, I know.
If they did all that and took away the anchor baby incentive we wouldn’t need a fence.
i bet they don’t let biden anywhere near the white hut.
The “wall” ran the entire border of the DDR and BRD. It was mostly fencing that was so thick that you couldn’t put a finger through the mesh to climb it, not to mention the guard towers every 100 meters or so. Escape from the DDR was extremely difficult on the entire border.
