A study sponsored by the American Psychological Association and ecoAmerica warns that climate change, including an expected increase in the global mean temperature, will cause increased “ecoanxiety” resulting in severe psychological and sociological consequences. The study, Beyond Storms and Droughts: The Psychological Impacts of Climate Change, led by College of Wooster psychologist Susan Clayton, warns that “we can expect a likely increase in mental health-related symptoms and conditions as a result of climate change.”
Communities at risk include those with high levels of poverty, lower education levels, large populations of older adults, children and infants, disabled people, recently arrived immigrants, migrants, or refugees, “all of whom tend to demand greater access to services that climate change can put at risk.”
Adding to the misery, global warming is expected to contribute to an increase in mosquitoes, ticks, allergies, asthma and poison ivy, which will serve to increase global anxiety.

I’m guessing climate change is nothing I need to worry about just like all the other eco scares over the last 50 years.
How about a psychosis for those of us driven to distraction by the climate hoaxers?
Global Warming Psychosis - Chicken Little anxiety followed by severe cognitive dissonance when the sky keeps failing to fall.
Then they bemoan the fact that people are "anxious" about the mythical changes to our ecosystem???
It's a wholly artificial anxiety caused by a wholly artificial "crisis" and magnified by irresponsible media.
I’ve had to have this discussion with my kids in elementary school. They’re reading how global warming will cause summers to get hotter and we won’t have energy to cool off, water shortages, food shortages, disease. It is famine, plague and death - but without the religious view that gives salvation at the end. The eco-extreme view is in the text book as science and incorporated in many lessons that if you don’t live in poverty now, you’ll live in a living hell in the future - their adulthood.
I’ve spent hours discussing why they are wrong and what can be so much better.
And most parents don’t bother or actually believe the stuff themselves.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the suicide rate is much higher for the kids that will have been raised on this stuff.

I suspect that the root issue for much angst is that life is simply too easy. We really do not have many of the real problems that people used to have to worry about. And there seems to be a need to have real existential problems to fret about. What are people supposed to do when they don’t have to worry that their children will all die of some horrid disease, or that next year’s food supply will be wiped out because of drought?
