The support and criticism of a Texas university cheerleader who features her big game hunting adventures on Facebook has grown within the week. She recently has been responding to haters with information about how she says killing some of these creatures actually helps their species, local villages and the economy as a whole.

Some of the comments and threats made towards this young woman are what you would expect from people who are clueless about game management. Have they been to swamps in LA(not lost angeles either) recently? Lots of "cute, cuddly" gators to be seen.

Thread from yesterday was pulled because a lot of Freepers are tree huggers who hate what this young lady does. Much vitriol.

they didn't exactly sound like tree huggers... a lot of them are hunters themselves...

A hunt for a cattle killing leopard or lion generates thousands of dollars of income for providing the villages with clean water and the children with at least some education.

Strange about “animal lovers”. The needed culling of predatory animals to protect the economic health and food supplies of HUMAN BEINGS is to be villified and those who perform that duty are to be condemned.
However, when ENDANGERED wildlife and birds (eagles etc) are chopped or fried by the “blessed” windmill farms and vast solar reflector fields are lauded as a “So what”.
We have here a new definition of “hypocracy”.

Tree huggers and animal lovers seem to have gotten the idea that Bambi is a nature documentary and never outgrew the idea. If breathing weren’t an autonomic function most of them would probably suffocate, not so much from forgetting to, but from not being able to figure out how.

1) The villages have done without clean water since time immemorial. A few more years without it won't really harm them.

2) The children don't need education. They might begin to think for themselves! They need only to be able to count to 500, read and write simple letters and learn to obey their German liberal masters.

And the leopards and lions are so cute and cuddly when they are cubs! We shouldn't be hunting them.

(/liberal)

It’s not “hypocrasy”. Most people disdain both. There are plenty of nonendangered critters running around out there that Blondie can shoot — stick with those.

An environmentalist isn’t a Conservative...a conservationist on the other hand knows that in order to properly maintain an ecosystem, proper and effective management of wildlife and fauna are critical...there is a huge difference between the two and if what you say is correct about the “tree huggers”, we have liberal, environmentalists masquerading as conservatives in our midst.

Think watermelon...

Ref Bambi. I especially like the talking rabbits. I have some that gather on my lawn and just chat away all night long at the buffet I supply for them. Little sob’s.

What part of game management is too complicated for you to understand?

You can have trophy hunters pay to hunt the animals that need to be culled and make money to run the management or you can pay professional non trophy hunters to hunt the animals that need to be culled.

Since they are going to be killed anyway why not make money off it?

Take a look at those trophies she is pictured with and tell me that all those needed to be culled —

I've got some nice trophy steaks in my refrigerator. I guess I could grill some tofu tomorrow and spare the lives of some cows, but I happen to enjoy steak from time to time. If she enjoys hunting animals, then she has as much right to her trophies as I do to my steaks.

What she chooses to legally hunt is none of your business.

Period.

You have no clue what does or does not need to be culled in those areas. And you likely never will.
