Chuck Todd: Jerry Brown 'Most Likely' to Challenge Clinton in 2016
Breitbart ^ | 7/4/2014 | Joel Pollak

Posted on 07/03/2014 11:04:41 PM PDT by Viennacon

On Thursday morning's edition of MSNBC's Morning Joe, NBC News White House Correspondent Chuck Todd predicted that California Gov. Jerry Brown would be the "most likely" to challenge frontrunner Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party nomination in the 2016 presidential race. Brown, who is running for a fourth non-consecutive term as governor, has already run for president three times and would be 78 years old in 2017.

Todd said that a challenger to Clinton was likely for two reasons: first, a series of stumbles on her troubled book tour; and second, the idea that "[y]ou can't just go unchallenged until the general election."

Fellow panelist Mark Halperin of Time magazine suggested that former Vice President Al Gore, who won the popular vote in 2000 but lost the Electoral College, could mount a challenge to the former First Lady for the nomination.

But Todd said that Brown was a stronger candidate: "I still think the person that is most likely to do this is going to be Jerry Brown. And he equally is a nemesis to the Clintons in a way that is different from Al Gore but also possesses every one of those attributes that Mark was talking about Al Gore, other than winning Iowa and winning the popular vote. Jerry Brown's resume with the left and populist movement is as strong, if not stronger.”

As Todd noted, Brown has been hailed by Democrats and the left for his performance as California governor, principally for convincing the state's voters to raise taxes on the rich, which helped him balance the state's budget.

California voters have a highly favorable opinion of the relatively moderate Brown, who is viewed as his party's most (or only) mature leader, and who led Republican rival Neel Kashkari by 20 points in a recent poll.

I have stated previously my agreement with Pollak on this. Forget Cuohomo and Bongo Circle Warren, Governor Moonbeam is where the challenge is at.

I hate him, so I am speaking objectively here. He has a stunning electoral record helped in part by the feckless California Republicans (great idea nominating a Mitt Romney clone for governor BTW). He can just about BS that he has been a success despite the massive unfunded liabilities since the MSM will cover for him. He also has no big scandals hanging over his head like Clintoon.

If I were to list Brown's plus points for the left, I'd say this

1) Scandal free 2) Can pretend to be a success 3) Governors are mostly better choices in history anyway 4) Popular with nutjob leftists 5) Latinos love him since he annexed California to Mexico 6) The press wants to shiv Hillary again for lols

2014 is about to climax and so we should be forward-looking to 2016 to mount the best conservative challenge possible, and thus, its important to anticipate the left. I have a feeling Killary is not going to get coronated, and that Moonbeam is going to be the one to steal it from her. We all know Moonbeam is underhanded enough to really dig into the hag's past. He can probably out-debate her too.

So how should we proceed if Jerry Brown jumps into the 2016 race. Perhaps a second Operation Chaos?

I don’t hate Jerry Brown and you are right he is scandal free. The guy is not a crook, which is more than one can say about a lot of pols. Nevertheless, he’s going to be pretty old and he is truly a lefty.

I’m pretty sure the country, as a whole, will have had it with lefties by the end of the next two (interminable) years. Too bad they weren’t done with it 18 months ago.

Hillary may be a lefty, but she is not really perceived as one.

I don’t care, if the people in this country are so stupid to elect another D, anyone of them, we are finished.

I’d just as soon have Brown as any of the rest of them, quite frankly.

I’ll say it again: not a crook.

Yes, he’s a tough campaigner and many people seem to respect him. No, he can’t get elected at his age, which wikipedia lists as 76 now, (April 7, 1938) 78 at election time.

In the second worst of all possible cases, he might run for prez and win. I doubt that he’s as corrupt as Hitlery, who would be the worst.

Hitlery looks about 243 years old so in comparison, Brown would look like a paper boy.

Brown would have been preferable to Clinton in 1992. But people are dreaming if they think anyone can beat Hillary in 2016.

I don’t see how Hillary could win. But I doubted Obama could win as well.

I’m hoping Ted kicks out Clintoon’s walker frame and calls her what she is, a MURDERING HAG!

I’m actually very surprised to read this, didn’t see it coming at all. I was just joking today about Jerry Brown’s big Choo Choo Train to essentially Nowhere. The area he’s going to rip up for a train very few really need will slice right through a lot of personal property. I don’t know what to say except to hope if Brown makes it, he is not a follower of Alynski or the Cloward-Piven or Fabian model of destroy to re-create in one’s own image of perfection. I know he does not believe in borders, geographic or social. He just proposed that insane Bathroom Bill, which allows a child to decide what sex they feel like being at any given time. The schools will be forced to play that little game of patty cake /imaginary gender along with the manipulating student.

Granny Warren, the fake Injun affirmative-action law professor from Massachusetts, is the Donks' best shot, I think.

Despite her age, she's fresh for the national stage. Like the Hildebeest, she has two X chromosomes. But she comes with fewer wrinkles and a far shorter record. And she's way to the left, so she'll rally the base.

As for Moonbeam, yeah, he's a governor and not a blow-hard senator. But the problem is, he is the governor of Mexifornia! If the 'Rats nominate him, they will invite endless comparisons of California's economic performance to that of pick your state (the fewer stars, the better). Plus, he's ancient, like the Hildebeest and Granny.

Then I think the Dems have just as bad prospects as Republicans. Moonbeam as you say is old, Hitlery is just an imploding mess, O’Mally is boring, Warren is a fake Native American. The dem bench is increasingly weak.

And the reason I am being increasingly dismissive of Hitlery is her disaster book (actually was tempted to buy it for toilet paper), the rape tape, and her twisted appearance. She looks like a Disney villain and threatens to legislate like one. Her debating also sucks. All a Rep has to do is challenge her changing position on sodomite marriage and she will be reacting like its her time of the month.

The big drawback with Moonbeam is that he is a white male.

The Rats have had so much success with a semi-black, they will double down with someone with even stronger minority points.

They need a first woman, they need a first hispanic, they need a first lgbt.

A lesbian hispanic? The perfect Rat candidate!
