You may believe in the law if you wish, but I am pretty sure if that had been you getting your head beat in, you hopefully would have fought back. If not I pity you because you will be taken advantage of.
What that storm trooper did was way out of line and totally inappropriate to the situation. Any man of honor would have kicked that son of a bitch in the head, then stomped his face into the pavement.
Unless you would like to tell me that Jack Booted Thug was trained to restrain a person by repeatedly pounding them in the face with a closed fist.

CHP Answers Excessive Force Charge In Beating Of Woman On Side Of Freeway
July 3, 2014 11:44 PM

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The California Highway Patrol responded Thursday to a YouTube video showing an officer punching a woman along the side of the freeway.

The CHP officer is shown punching the woman on the ground more than 11 times in the face.

She doesn’t appear in the video clip to resist.

On Thursday, the CHP issued a statement that said: “The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is aware of the video and we are looking into the incident. As a matter of policy, every time there is a use of force by our officers, there is a review conducted to determine whether the use of force was appropriate. That will be done in this case, however, since there is an ongoing investigation, it would be premature to comment on this specific video segment without reviewing the entire incident.”

The confrontation was caught on cellphone video by a man driving by.

On the YouTube video, he seems shocked that the officer is hitting the woman. What started the confrontation and what triggered the rough takedown and arrest is unclear.

The video was shot along the 10 Freeway near La Brea Avenue early Tuesday evening.

When the video starts, the officer is seen trying to detain the woman. She gets a few steps away from him, but he gets her to the ground.

He briefly struggles with her before repeatedly punching her in the face.

After a few moments, a plainclothes officer enters the picture and helps the CHP officer put the woman in handcuffs.

The man who shot the video identifies himself as a music producer who lives in Los Angeles.

David Diaz told CBS2′s Rachel Kim he was horrified to have witnessed the confrontation.

He called it a definite case of police brutality.

Diaz said he saw the barefoot woman walking around the off-ramp when he noticed a CHP officer chase her around a truck.

He said the punches were “excessive and brutal.”

“He just pounded her,” Diaz said. “If you look at the video, there are 15 hits. To the head, and not just simple jabs. These are blows to the head. Blows. Really serious blows. And this is ridiculous to me.”

He added, “I find it hard to believe there [was] no other remedy in this situation.”

Concrete or no, a freeway shoulder is designed to be very hard.

California State Police were merged into the CHP a few years aback.

CHP wasn’t happy about it.

I wouldn't be there in the first place.

And my size and physiology precludes me from kicking anyone in the head without climbing them like a rabid ferret.

I can control my right index finger, though.

Yes. I insist on the rule of law.

From everyone. Especially the police.

My guess is that you are in law enforcement, and thoroughly brainwashed by your training. Otherwise I cannot believe you are trying to justify that thuggery, that you actually tell yourself it’s ok because he is preventing mass murder. Maybe your old mother will get this treatment some day when she wanders out of a nursing home, and the cop who finds her wandering in traffic prevents her committing mass murder by beating the everloving crap out of her like this...

You seem to have an awful lot of faith in the law, must be a lawyer huh?
When the laws are no longer followed by our elected and appointed authorities, and are used instead to oppress the citizens, then comes the time for citizen enforcement and the rope of Judge Lynch.
When the laws are twisted in word and intent by the enforcers of that law; and upheld by a court system that takes the word of the police over the citizen regardless of evidence to the contrary, then yes you break the law in order to legitimately enforce or change those laws.

The individual who shot the film, embossed his promotional logo on it, then gave the sensationalized interview is a self-described music producer. He gave a number of interviews, including one in which he described the woman as appearing to be under the influence of some substance.

Those that wrote the book that defined defensive raising of the hands as non-compliance need to be put out of business.

That would be Webster you're talking about, as far as I can see. If your not complying with a directive to lie face down and put your hands behind your back, that's noncompliance, isn't it?

Of course, I don't know if he was telling her that, or what, but it seems apparent that that is what he wanted her to do, and he did accomplish that objective. The blows took place over a period of about 10 seconds, and he got her flipped over and cuffed in another 5 or 10 seconds. Look close and you can see she is still mouthing off while she's being cuffed.

“I’m not one for extra-judicial punishment. I’ll be happy if the officer gets punished under the rule of law.”

When was the last time that ever happened? When the law no longer is enforced on government officials then extra-judicial punishment becomes necessary.

Then you don’t drive So. Cal. freeways, the entire shoulder is concrete to the sound wall or center divider.
Always covered with dirt, trash and other crap of course.

“The cop is applying extra-judicial punishment. And you want more of the same to happen to him.”

In that case, the punish would certainly fit the crime.

The problem in our society is that we want to play by the rules instead of desiring the proper outcomes. When the rules no longer support the proper outcomes we still keep to the rules.

Nope, not a lawyer.

I know the laws are too many, and not enforced.

My aim is to shove rule of law down the throats of liberal politicians.

Personally, I ignore or break laws every day. Everyone does. But I'm not a government official, and I don't beat people because I'm angry or on steroids.

My intent is to hold everyone responsible and subject to the rule of law.

The concept of the rule of law is not the laws of the land.

I prefer that to no rule of law, because I know what a little guy like me can do, if not protected (and restricted) by a true rule of law.

It ain't pretty. I have recipes.
