LOL. Little to none Russian medias are government-owned. Most of the major ones are government-friendly for one reason or another though.
It is exactly the same for Ukraine, probably worse.
There are more evidence of Ukrainian government meddling in a freedom of press, including killing journalists, than anything like that in Russia.
Google Gongadze, Gurevoi etc.
There are strong evidence that Gongadze was killed under Ukrainian (pro-Western) president order at the time for exposing a government corruption.
