Be proud, America: Ignore the doom and gloom, ours is a great country
FoxNews.com ^ | July 4, 2014 | Liz Peek

As a mother, it is almost impossible to imagine sending a child on a long and dangerous journey, alone, into the unknown. And yet that is what tens of thousands of parents in Mexico and Central America have done, hoping their children will find sanctuary in the United States. That tells you a great deal about the terrible violence and poverty in other countries. It also tells you a great deal about the United States.

Half of our problems stem from people “ignoring the doom & gloom”.

Well, they could always come to FR. Lots of gloom & doom, no hope, they’ve already taken over, we’ve already lost, only kidding ourselves, get ready to die, etc.

I wish I could feel good about the direction America is going but I really am disheartened.

The U.S. has had it’s time in the Sun and for many years was the greatest Country on earth. It may still be but considering shape the world is in, that isn’t much comfort.

Agree with your assessment.

The demographic trend is overwhelming us one year at a time.
And the country’s debt is so large that the impact can’t be avoided eventually.

The goal now it to delay the decay as much as possible.

Some are heading to other locales, but very few in reality.

If the thought of the nation descending into a polyglot of completely dissimilar people with nothing in common other than the desire to grab as much of what the government is offering them makes you gloomy, then gloomy you will be.

The trick is to reset your perspective and focus on your family and immediate community. Cause its still possible to experience what this country used to be about at that level.

Who knows, maybe there'll be some kind of dramatic national turnaround.

God does stuff like that from time to time.

“”As a mother, it is almost impossible to imagine sending a child on a long and dangerous journey, alone, into the unknown.””

PLEASE will someone show us the FIRST CHILD who has made that trip ALONE?????? Do people not realize their words should have some meaning? This is such a crock. No child is leaving Central America or anywhere else and making it to the US ALONE!!!

If true, they should be celebrated, met at the border by the president and his wife and taken immediately to the WH.

Let’s report the facts - that is, if anyone really knows them.

Can you imagine if George W Bush precipitated such a fiasco, then refused to even go face what he he’d done? Or almost any previous president? He’d be tarred and feathered by the media. This _resident not only creates the crisis, and then refuses to face it, bit has the nerve to accuse those who call him on it, as “playing politics”!!!!! I hate him with the white hot heat of a million suns, and his media lackeys the same.

This is just a brazen attempt to tug at people’s heartstrings. Won’t work on me, I feel sorry for my country, for all the people who will have to pay for this in one way or another ( which is almost all of us legal taxpaying peons), through more confiscation, or disease, or crime.

America murders ~1.5 million unborn precious children a year. Our government protects, with lethal force, the ability of murderers to get rich doing this.

Faggots are allowed to march in the street, demanding more rights than even Christians.

More people are receiving govt handouts than those who work.

Those are just a few issues.

Hardly how one might define "great."

But you keep fooling yourself, hear? Any nation that spits on, and is at war with, God in heaven, not only can never realize greatness, it's not even going to survive.

Well stated.

All I can add is that a country and a government that has grown so depraved that it equates the perversion of two homosexual dudes playing in their own feces as being the same thing as a husband-and-wife is no longer a “great country.”
