How dare do they want to replace slums with safe neighborhoods.

It’s crazy too, because these activists have decried “white flight” over the past decades, and “disinvestment” in cities, which have caused so many places to do downhill.

They opposed the actions which caused the inner cities to get to their current state, yet are also opposed to actions which would revitalize such areas.

You can’t have it both ways.

But, if these mayors fight too much against the private capital which they can benefit from, the investors will simply go elsewhere, and leave inner city Baltimore, New Orleans, Atlanta, et. al. in the same horrid conditions they are now.

And if that happens, I’m sure they will blame the investors for avoiding their cities, avoiding based on policies they themselves want to put in place to make it more difficult for these investors to do what they do.
