Dyson is the ideal of today's pseudo academic (pseudo in the sense that he's in one of the 'soft' fields, in his case sociology) - he talks a lot, exercises his thirty-dollar word vocabulary, if you will, and says absolutely nothing and makes no sense. But as a black man who does seem to be coherent, he's got a great gig.

There are a number of pseudo-intellectual scoundrels like Dyson (Cornell West, Marc Lamont Hill) who make an excellent living slamming the U.S. and who are treated as heroes by the left.
