Rocket fire reported north of Tel Aviv as Hamas dramatically ups range
Times of Israel ^ | 7-8-2014 | By Spencer Ho and Yifa Yaakov

No initial reports of injuries or damage after massive barrage across country; Netanyahu vows to widen Gaza operation, as cabinet okays call-up of 40,000 troops; rockets shot down over Tel Aviv; terrorists killed in firefight at Zikim army base; Gazan death toll in double digits.

Israel launched a major operation against Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza in the early hours of Tuesday morning, dubbed Operation Protective Edge, following heavy Hamas rocket fire over the preceding days.

The fast-escalating situation in the south comes in the shadow of spiking Jewish-Arab tensions in Israel over the brutal killings of four teenagers — three Jews and one Arab — by extremists. Stay with The Times of Israel’s liveblog for updates throughout the day.

I don’t dislike Palistinians. Plenty of Palis, including young teens sent here to live with relatives and stay out of fighting, live in this area. They speak English, they all work, the children are well behaved, they’re intelligent and good neighbors. I really don’t understand why Israel does things like building those settlements that provoke the whole population.

You don't understand??? Do you watch the news reports??? Everyone over there wants every Jew on the face of the earth dead...Including your friendly neighbors...

So Israel is bad for building houses on its own property???

There is no such thing as a “palestinian”. There are Egyptian Arabs in Gaza. There are Jordanian Arabs in the West Bank, and there are Syrian Arabs in the Golan Heights.

Learn some history.

Sorry, I just don’t get it and never will. It’s fuel to the fire. JMHO.

Tweet from “Israeli News”

“Rocket that hit Hadera was apparently a Syrian design 302 mm rocket with a range of greater than 100 km - Channel 10”

Now I WONDER how the Gaza Pali’s got their hands on a large Syrian Missile?

Hamas has 4 times more long-range rockets than estimated

Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group have some 400 long-range rockets, an arsenal four times larger than Israeli intelligence had estimated, Israeli journalist Yossi Melman says.

He says about 30 to 40 of the rockets were destroyed by the Israel Air Force, while 40 were used against Israel, thus far.

“There is a cache of about 300 left for use in the next 10 days, at this rate,” Melman tweets.

Israel launched a major operation against Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza

Isn't the elected government controlled by Hamas?

Why don' the Israelis just hold them accountable and blow up their government buildings (and other appropriate terrorist huts)

"Control your murdering pigs, or will blow you all to Hell....And eff the Mohammed dirtbag"

And that weak spineless child in the WH is calling for Israel to restrain itself from retaliating.

This just in:

Hundreds of Palestinian children from Gaza are being bussed into Israel...

They are not terrorists, they are jihadis

Terrorists, jihadis, mass-murderers....same thing.

And I really don't understand why Israel doesn't eradicate anyone who attacks them and seize their territory, and then populate it.

Here is a couple of links grania should read. The settlements aren’t the “provocation”, Islam is.

“Is it really smart to anger everyone in Gaza and all Palis living in Israel?”

I was stationed over there along the Egyptian/Israeli border the last time it got noisy, 2011/2012. The Israelis absorbed hundreds of rockets and missiles coming out of Gaza before they did anything, and predictably, the media utterly ignored it until the Israelis conducted surgical strikes on the launch points with very little collateral damage. At that point, the media took off on the “brutal Israelis” while completely ignoring (as usual) the events that led up to it.
