Morning Plum: Obama to set off bomb in middle of midterms
Washington Post ^ | July 9, 2014 | BY GREG SARGENT

Now that Republicans have made it clear that they will not participate on any level in basic problem solving when it comes to our immigration crisis, it is now on Obama to determine just how far he can go unilaterally, particularly when it comes to easing the pace of deportations. This is going to be one of the most consequential decisions of his presidency in substantive, moral, and legal terms, and politically, it could set off a bomb this fall, in the middle of the midterm elections.

Republicans are perfectly willing to work on reform. They just don’t want to do what he wants them to do. That’s quite a difference.

Bull!

Republicans just want to make sure it is the GOP that grants Amnesty, of course, it just won't be called Amnesty because they are stupid enough to think that their base is too stupid not to know this.

The president doesn’t seem to have to make a case for anything anymore, and in fact, what’s scary is that nobody even seems to expect him to pretend to do so.

I think one of the reasons the GOP Old Guard hasn’t been very effective is not because they agree with Obama, but because they are still playing by the old rules and expected him to be playing by them too. It’s beginning to dawn on them that this is a whole different situation. It’s a pity they didn’t open their eyes earlier, but when you think of it, his behavior is completely outside of our normal American experience and for a career politician, used to the same old same old, it’s practically incomprehensible.

That said, even some Dems are beginning to complain so I have some hope that he’s pushing it too far. This immigration stunt may be what does him in.
