Short holiday week

Not only that, but hurricane Arthur was brushing up the eastern coast causing evacuations in several places.

It's an election year, therefore the numbers coming from Fedzilla are not to be believed. The Dems face a shellacking in November, so expect more of this fun with numbers.

Yet we continue to blindly just send US jobs to China.

If you owned a company that made a widget and you had a choice to hire a bunch of hard working people who worked 16 hours a day for $16 a day or you could hire someone who worked 8 hours a day for $16 an hour, plus you had to pay the government $1.12 per hour for Social Security and withhold another $1.12 per hour for the worker to pay his portion of Social Security, and then you had to pay the insurance company $4.00 per hour for Workers Compensation Insurance, and you had to pay 64 cents per hour for unemployment insurance, and you had to pay environmental waste fees on the goods you produced, plus you had to submit your business to dozens of county, city, State, and Federal inspections..... where would you choose to have your widget manufactured?

The only way America can keep these jobs is to lower the wages of Americans down to slave labor wages, or raise a tariff on all imported goods so that everything we buy would cost as much or more than it would cost for the same manufacturer to make it and sell it here.

So unless you are going to propose that solution and go through with it, then you are just whistling past the graveyard.

GOP stand up. Support American jobs.

We need to support American jobs for American workers. Moving our jobs abroad is a problem, but so is replacing American workers with legal immigrants and guest workers. We bring in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year and 640,000 guest workers annually. They are taking American jobs and depressing wages. Where is the outrage about that?

I don’t agree with you.

America is in a (very large) crisis right now.

Millions of what used to be American jobs, are being now done by Chinese workers, and even the American owners now only hold minority positions.

China is very rapidly growing, to challenge America.

We cannot continue to pass. We have passed for over an entire generation.

Both parties have passed.

America needs to bring American jobs back.

Now.

More BS from the Beltway Manure Factory. It is impossible for the regime to tell the truth anything they say is 90% lies.

Actually I believe people are (starting) to support American jobs over imported cheap workers.

What I don’t see is even one small movement, toward bringing jobs back from Asia.

Don’t get me wrong. I lived in Asia, I am not anti-Asian. I am however very much for rebuilding our own country.

China is not the super-cheap manufacturing place it once was. Sure it’s still cheap, but now other considerations start to play a role.

I am just saying we need to start supporting American jobs.

The GOP needs to start supporting American jobs.

The GOP.

Oh really. And exactly how has the translated into reduced legal immigration and numbers of guest workers? Just the opposite is happening in terms of public policy. The Gang of 8 bill supported by 14 GOP senators will triple legal immigration over the next decade to 33 million and double the annual intake of guest workers to 1.4 million.

Most Reps support increasing the guest worker programs. There are more than 50 House GOP congressmen who support amnesty. The people who count are the corporate paymasters, not middle class Americans.

What I don’t see is even one small movement, toward bringing jobs back from Asia.

They will bring them back once American wages decline to the level of Asian salaries.

Don’t get me wrong. I lived in Asia, I am not anti-Asian. I am however very much for rebuilding our own country.

You rebuild it by making the business climate in America more conducive than the one abroad. Taxes, regulatory constraints including those impacting the environment, higher cost labor, etc. all go into the calculus businesses use to decide where to locate their operations. We can't compel businesses to stay here. There are reasons why they move abroad.

I am just saying we need to start supporting American jobs. The GOP needs to start supporting American jobs.

Those are meaningless platitudes. You need to include specifics in your rants. For example, wouldn't it make sense to reduce legal immigration and the number of guest workers? Do you see the connection?

I agree with you, that we need to control immigration.

Totally.

Both of our parties are currently doing nothing, about what is becoming an ever-bigger problem.

We are controlling legal immigration now. Specifically, do you support reducing legal immigration and the guest worker programs substantially?

Both of our parties are currently doing nothing, about what is becoming an ever-bigger problem.

If you are referring to illegal aliens, I agree. However, this is a different problem. Our legal immigration policies are importing huge numbers of legal foreign workers who are competing against Americans and depressing wages.

Hi sorry for the delay.

I don’t actually support our guest worker program.

I don’t support sending US jobs abroad either.

I believe we should bring back US jobs right here to the USA, and I believe US workers should make a lot of the stuff which we have sent to be built in China and elsewhere.

So I’m sort of a throw-back actually.

I had the impression you are a libertarian who believes in the free flow of labor. You still have not addressed legal immigration and the fact that we bring in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year. It needs to be reduced allong with the guest worker programs if we want more Americans working.

American jobs will return if we have the right environment for them. There are reasons why businesses move offshore. Unless we address them, we will see more businesses move abroad. We can't force them to stay here.

Both parties have abandoned the American worker.
