This is a prescription that has worked well in the past.

It works well for the American middle class. It doesn't work so well for Big Government and the Ruling Class, which is why they will use any means to prevent it.

1975: Fred Harvey Company recruits my sister to work for them at Grand Canyon National Park during the peak of the baby boom with a glut of workers their age. They are flexible enough to let her work between college semesters.

2010: Fred Harvey Company rejects my daughter to work for them at Yellowstone National Park even though she is more qualified than my sister in 1975. They are totally inflexible about letting her work between college semesters as they have access to a large pool of foreign workers who are needed to fill these jobs because they can't recruit enough Americans.

Who thinks the 2010 scenario is not a case of need, but merely greed? FWIW, Fred Harvey Company has a sweetheart deal to manage concessions, including meals and lodging, for the National Park Service. Why do you suppose what was standard fare in 1975 with them staffing to allow college kids to work during their various semester breaks became impossible by 2010?
