Immigration reform hopes fade
thehill.com ^ | 7/12/14 | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 07/12/2014 5:16:46 AM PDT by cotton1706

Immigration reform has fizzled as an issue for Democrats, who are barely mentioning it on the campaign trail despite making the issue their top domestic priority in 2013 and 2014.

Latino voters, who are the most energized about overhauling the nation’s immigration laws, will have little impact on the battle for control of the Senate, with the possible exception of Sen. Mark Udall’s (D) race in Colorado.

White working-class voters will play a more important role in the midterm election compared to the 2012 presidential election. They are not energized by immigration reform. Instead, they are concerned about downward pressure on wages, which the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has linked to higher immigration levels. Coincidently, President Obama’s support among white voters without college degrees has steadily eroded.

Democratic strategists admit their party’s record on immigration reform will do little to help candidates this year, although they predict it could be a potent weapon in the 2016 presidential election.

“In light of turnout models it’s probably not as strong an issue as it would be in presidential years,” said Steve Jarding, a Democratic strategist and former advisor to several senators from conservative leaning states such as former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.).

“I still think Democrats have fumbled this issue because they allow the issue to be played on Republican terms,” he said. “Republicans are trying to suggest immigration is the reason wages are suppressed and it’s a racial issue. I don’t like it. That’s what they’re doing cynically. They’re saying when you get immigration, you suppress the wages of non-immigrants, i.e. white people.”

He said Democrats need to “put everybody in the same boat” and steer the debate away from race.

It’s not Seperation of Church and State when Obama does it.

Ha, that’s a good one. The Dims can’t steer any issue away from race—it’s not in their DNA.

Black American from Gang-Besieged Baltimore: ‘Where Can I Get Asylum?’

by Tony Lee 11 Jul 2014 1612 post a comment

As the White House plans to spend billions of taxpayer funds to take care of illegal immigrant children who are unlawfully entering the country, some black Americans who live in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods are wondering where they and their children can get refugee status and aid.

On Friday’s Laura Ingraham Show, Elaine, a black woman from Baltimore, expressed her outrage that President Barack Obama is putting the interests of illegal immigrant children above those of American citizens. Though the number of illegal immigrant children unlawfully entering the country has spiked since Obama unilaterally enacted his temporary amnesty program in 2012, the White House has said the primary cause of the border crisis is the rampant gang violence in Central America.

“I’m living a nightmare. My whole neighborhood is so violent. There’s so much crime,” she said. “I have gangs everywhere here in Baltimore! I can’t let my daughter ride her bicycle outside – I can’t do anything, Laura! I’m trapped here.”

Elaine told Ingraham that she listens to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Obama and feels that “nobody is saying a word” while spending billions of dollars taking care of foreigners who are unlawfully in the country.

The most pressing immigration reform we need is to return Border Agents to their jobs of GUARDING THE BORDER instead of changing dirty diapers and running a delivery/escort service for Obama’s latest wave of illegal aliens.

Remember when Obama said he would take unilateral action on immigration?

Pulling the Border Guards off the border is just his first step.

Balderdash! We just want the border protected and laws to be enforced. It's Jesse Jackson who's claiming the illegals will depress wages - only he's not talking about white people, he's talking about blacks.

There are plenty of non-immigrant, non-white, non-hispanic people in this country, about 15% of the population. And it is they who are most harmed by untrammelled immigration of low-skilled workers.

But you know, it’s really like NEITHER party gives a fig for ANY working class or middle class AMERICAN CITIZENS.

The set-up is tighter border security is never implemented unless "comprehensive immigration reform" is passed. Then only the amnesty part of the reform ever happens. This is intentional to keep the illegal labor flow going strong.

The corruption that led President Eisenhower to implement Operation Wetback in 1954 ended up metastasizing and here we are 60 years later.

And just before the elections in November, when the pandemics triggered by the illegal alien vectors who are now being distributed throughout the nation occurs, the Soccer Moms are going to be so pleased with Obama and his pet RATS!

We shouldn't even discuss amnesty or reform till there is demonstrable border security and immigration enforcement for a decade.

Yeah, I'll ask Sandra our 5th generation Hispanic neighbor what she wants done. Last I heard, she wants current laws enforced and deport every illegal immigrant now.

I'm all for Immigration Reform:

-Build a wall on the Mexican border, from San Diego to East Texas. Place a Company of troops every 1000 feet. Machine guns, landmines, sensors to check for underground tunnels.

-Round up every illegal alien invader, and their children, and send them back to whatever country they came from.

-Stiff fines and jail terms for any employer who uses illegal alien invaders for the company.

-Start looking at Europeans who are wanting to flee Secularized and Islamicized Europe. Hispanics are welcome to emigrate to America as well....just do it for the right reasons and play by the rules.
