Ronald Reagan was a great President, but a failure as a father. Turns out his best child was adopted.

...And his last wife was so witchy scary that she made Stevie Nicks nervous.

The two kids from his first marriage turned out decent and patriotic, while the two he had with his second wife turned out to be fruitloops.

"failure"
Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. Implicit in the idea that he was a failure is the idea that you are what your parents instill in you. That is not too far from the tabula rasa/blank slate theory. The facts are everybody is hard-wired for certain things. People are a mix of nature and environment. Maureen Reagan came out okay, but Ron Jr. and Patti were screwed up. I doubt Reagan Sr. taught separate things/values to his childen.
Same for me and my six siblings. Some of us are conservative and some are libs.

Somewhere along the line, his two kids turned left, as their father turned right. They were products of California and the lefty schools they attended, and the friends they kept. How torn and disappointed Nancy Reagan must have been..her children were NOTHING like their father. And it seems that these two kids are still rebelling against their father.

Pres. Reagan’s other daughter Maureen was pretty good.
